Feeling down in myself after Covid

It's about 10 days since I tested positive and physically I'm starting to feel better, but I feel really down in myself and teary today. I don't know why really. I live alone so maybe it's the lack of human contact! Did anyone experience similar after having it?

Yes, I felt exactly like that. It is quite common to feel low after viral infections. Can you see if anyone can come over? That helped me a lot. Otherwise try and pamper yourself at bit if you can. I find a hot bath does wonders.

I live on my own and had just moved house in the Summer when I contracted Covid. Family checked in via phone and offered assistance but I ordered food in once my appetite returned and organised online deliveries so assured them I was fine. Despite coping well on my own, I did feel sorry for myself afterwards. It was scary when my breathing hurt and I couldn't get speak to a doctor and I felt lonely. I can understand how you are feeling now. Take your time to get properly well and don't underestimate the need for emotional support after illness. Do you have friends you can confide in?

Snap! I'm only on day 5 today but feel exactly like you've described. I feel very lonely and sorry for myself!

I'm day 7 today. I've managed to have a bath and get down to the sofa but that's wiped me out.

LFT is showing a vehement positive still today.

I had planned to log in online a senior management meeting today, just to listen and keep up with goings on but I couldn't face it.

Now wondering if I'm going to need some of next week off sick too :(

Yes!

Yes, it can do a number on your mental health. Try to think of it as just another symptom which your body is fighting, I found that helped.

The tiredness has really hit me this week, even though symptoms have improved, although I can still hear it in my voice. Feel really quite low and agitated in myself. I had the mirena coul fitted about a month ago and ACM bleeding all the time, which isn't helping

Try magnesium supplements.

Yes and yes.

How are you now, OP? I've just come through Covid myself and feel incredibly flat and low. I'm going to get some vitamins which hopefully will build me up.

PopTartsAreLife · 15/11/2022 18:50

I feel the same, been off work last week and this, and hoping I'll be able to go back next week. I feel rough but the thought of another week at home is awful. I don't remember feeling quite this low after my previous bout of covid, but that was in spring last year and now I'm thinking maybe it's all the drizzle and early dark nights not helping. I manage to get the kids to school but that's it, felt too exhausted even to take a shower earlier but forced myself in the end. Not like me at all, I hope it passes soon for you OP and other pp.
