Talk to me about holidaying solo

I've travelled solo, both for business and pleasure. Either extended trips or short trips, both abroad and within the UK.

But I've never gone on holiday solo. I have some time off work booked in March, and I'm thinking about it.

So if you were to holiday solo in spring, where would you go and what would you do? I'm very happy to go to restaurants, theatre, visitor attractions etc on my own.

It would probably be for a week or less, so Europe or UK most probably. Maybe Ireland.

I live in southern Spain and March is a great time of year to visit (before the crazy summer heat!). You could do a twin city break (Seville or Granada maybe) or base yourself in Malaga, which gets really overlooked as a destination in itself, and take day trips from there (Ronda, Nerja, Cordoba). The rail network is pretty good so you’d have plenty of options.

Malta. I've been on my own before. Plenty to do. Easy to get around. Most locals speak English. A cultural mish-mash so it's familiar but also exotic.

Thank you! I'm trying to learn Spanish so it would be a great excuse to try speaking it for real!

Ooh, I was supposed to visit Malta about thirty years ago, but the trip got cancelled. Never made it there... yet. Another great option!
