'Four single moms join hands to buy a home, transforming their lives and creating a paradise'

Just seen this article about 4 single mums who bought a big house together in the US and share chores/costs etc. I know the arrangement will have its drawbacks and require constant communication but it also makes SO much sense in many ways I think! Would love to know everyone's thoughts?

An extract: "Having four people to share not just expenses but other duties such as babysitting and dog-walking is helping them manage their time and resources better. Harper notes that she saves roughly $30,000 a year as a result. “We don’t know whose socks are whose... socks everywhere,” said Harper. “iPads, dishes, cups. There’s a lot of exchanging that occurs. Usually not planned.” They also have regular homeowners' meetings to plan their week and discuss repairs and yard work and it always happens over a bottle of champagne. A huge relief for all of them is that they live with women, which sees so much of the responsibilities in a home being shared."

this is a lovely idea...not without its challenges of course, but if you knew the right people to do it with - mums and kids - it could work really well. Personally I need my own space, and the DC do too, so sharing a house probably wouldn't work for us, but if we could buy/build a place with separate living units but shared facilities I'd love that.

Wouldn’t work for me I don’t like living with others

Certainly not without its challenges, but this could be a way forward for single parents in particular to get on the property ladder.

Not for me. But can see the advantages of living this way

There are women in my life who although not geographically close I know I could do this with in heart beat. Only a couple of them. We always fall into a great rhythm, we think and speak similarly and we've weathered storms together. Other than those special ladies, nope, no way, never. I need my space.

Not for me. They'd all drive me mad, even if they were lovely people.

My first thoughts about this would be that in my area a house that would be big enough to house 4 single adults and 4+ children would be in excess of £2 million. Unless children shared rooms or very little living and outdoor space.

My idea of hell but great if you all get along. Chances are that there will be an epic fallout over a man though.
