Just curious! Not the best picture.

Chocolate and vanilla, with vanilla frosting. Serves about 30 - 40.

@PatientlyWaiting21 easily £20 of ingredients. The butter alone... at least 4 x 250g packs (probably more) at £2.50 each. Then chocolate, eggs, fondant etc etc.

I don't know about price but I love it!
£50 probably

I usually make my kids birthday cakes, but i think people underestimate the costs involved in handmade cakes. I paid for a large handmade cake for my 40th birthday. I think it was £180, and I factored it into the cost of a party (I know MN hates adult birthday parties!! Blush)
I wouldn't have the money to do that regularly but they are very time consuming and the cost of ingredients and fuel has increased massively. I know of a few people who gave up doing cakes because it just wasn't viable.

That’s a great cake OP!

I said around £40.00. Agreeing with the pp that the finish doesn't look professional but homemade. It's still a nice cake, as I said, but if OP is looking to sell in future then it's helpful to be honest.

I'd pay more for a professional finish, obviously.

The finish is neat. Your out of touch people pay a lot even for cupcakes your paying for the decor of the cake. Tbh I'd order from OP

I'm struggling to follow that from your wording. No grammar pedantry intended!

But I didn't mention the word neat. I talked about the finish not looking professional, as did other pps, and the OP herself said she knew it wasn't perfect.

Looks fab OP & I'd give you at least £60-70 & a bottle of wine if you were my friend that had made me the cake as a favour.

For those who can't believe people pay that for cakes - I'm having 2 cakes made this month, one for DD's 21st & one for DGS christening (I've spent more on cake than I have on energy this month 🤣).

I made 3 loaf cakes to take into work the other day & was over £20 for the basic ingredients.
