I'm just wondering do secondhand clothing shops take donated underwear and sell them?

I highly doubt it.

ofwarren · 07/11/2022 20:23

Not usually.

Yes, but not used pants or tights!

CuriousCatfish · 07/11/2022 20:32

I've seen second hand bras in charity shops.

Sillybanana · 07/11/2022 20:39

I’ve seen bras but they definitely don’t sell pants!

RoseAndRose · 07/11/2022 20:41

I've seen bras (sometimes clearly new, so I assume donated by a store), sports bras and vests. Nothing else.

katepilar · 07/11/2022 20:43

I've seen bras and swimming costumes/bikinis.

Bluevelvetsofa · 07/11/2022 20:45

I’ve given bras to Oxfam and pants that were new with tags.

Thank you all so much for the replies. They are very valuable to me. For the past few months I was finding items of my underwear amongst my mothers laundry. I live at home because of the housing issue. I find it hard to find accommodation that is within my budget.

Over the past few months I have been finding items of underwear amongst her stuff that looks very familiar and when I check tags the bras are often my size and the underwear is mine size too. The underwear is usually Marks and Spencer stuff and she never shops in Marks and Spencer.
Tonight I asked her if she ever goes into Marks and Spencer and she says no it's too expensive but she says she has some tshirts from them and whenever she's sees things in secondhand shops from M+S she buys them.
I find it unusual how secondhand shops are selling the very M+S underwear that I used to buy.

I think it's the onset of dementia with my mother or something else but I don't know. I was working hard over the past 8 days. I was working away and then I come home to find that she has items of my underwear. So in indicates shes going into my room and taking my belongings. But the stuff she's taking from me is my underwear. We are different sizes.

I am plus size and she is not. She has size 18 tummy control knickers amongst her laundry hanging up drying. She would be a size 12.
A few months ago I saw a bra that I recognised and it looked exactly like mine and when checked it was exactly my size. A 40c and she is a size 12. She would never be that size.

Oxfam often have a basket or rail of brand new M&S underwear, I don't know why but I've found it in multiple branches. I think M&S must donate end of line stock to them.

Book a doctor's appointment for your mother and go with her to explain the issue that you think she has dementia, if she will let you go with her. If she won't, write to her doctor to tell them to check for dementia.

See if your mum will let you put a lock on your bedroom door. Just say you'd prefer it for privacy. If you think she's ill with dementia there is no use accusing her of stealing your clothes. She might not remember doing it and if you have a big argument she might kick you out. Just take back your clothes when you find them.

If you can't have a lock on the door get a large box which you can put a padlock on it and keep your clothes in there. You can get these boxes from garden centres.

In my mind I am thinking dementia is happening with her so I never targeting her when I found she had items of my underwear. I left it be except for once when I took back my favourite bra.

I discussed my concerns with out gp before and the GP rang her for an appointment and she went but I do t know what the outcome of that appointment was.

I decided to check my underwear drawer and I think my mother is definitely stealing my underwear. I had my underwear organised and in my drawer was a lip lock bag filled with my good underwear of going out. I considered my good underwear as my M&S underwear. I definitely had a 5 pack of these - white lace underwear. This were only worn going out and not every day but all I can find is one pants. These wouldn't be buried at the end of a laundry basket because going out was limited from the pandemic and when the loackdown was easing, I was so busy in work.

I will keep an eye out over the next few more weeks for when she's doing the laundry to see if any of my underwear shows up in hers.

It's so weird. I'm a size 12 and she's a size 12. Her obsession is white lace underwear from Marks and Spencer.

These were sold in a 5 pack. I had a load of these but all I can find now is 1.
