Buying a new TV and aging parent

The TV at home in the family home, is broken. It was working. One day I found a big crack on the screen. When I asked my mother what happened she didn't know but can only guess maybe she was sweeping the floor and it was the handle of the brush. I have seen her before behaving with a TV and she will spray sprays on the screen and wipe it clean to dust it off. The sprays might be an ordinary bathroom or kitchen spray or a window cleaned spray. She doesn't care what she uses. That could have been another culprit. She was advised many times before not to wet the screen or wash it but she doesn't like to listen and says it has to be cleaned.

I'm looking at tvs online so that we can have a TV in the house for the Christmas. There are some good prices with the black Friday stuff. I found a TV for 400. I didn't buy it yet but naturally I am apprehensive about it because my mother might not be careful around the TV and I think maybe it might be a waste.

Should I buy a TV or leave it or maybe aim for a smaller TV like a 32 inch instead of anything bigger and pricer.

Unless is there anything I can look at that might be stronger than the screens that are available nowadays?

I have a friend who lives with his parents and his TV is over 20 years old. He is refusing to buy a TV for his mother because he knows she won't respect the screen.

If she’s not bothered about not being able to watch it then just leave it.

She has her own TV in the kitchen.

I am interested in atv for movies though. Her TV is very small and not very great for movies.

I am apprehensive because she won't respect the screen.

Just buy a cheaper one then, or a cheaper secondhand one from FB marketplace.

Sorry, I didn’t realise you lived at home. Can you get a tv for your bedroom and after only you clean your bedroom which I imagine is the case anyway?

Don’t pay £400. They’ll be dirt cheap during Black Friday
