If you are on a bit of a budget, what are you getting your dh for Christmas?

Lots of threads with ideas in the topic

www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas

Have you had a browse in there?

Me and my boyfriend have said we will do a little Christmas stocking each with 5-10 gifts and a £15 - £20 budget. We will just be getting things like our favourite snacks, funny little things from a charity shop etc, all my money will be going towards the kids. I think it will be fun because I'll have to be quite thoughtful with it.

My dh is getting a fortnum and Mason's tin of cheese biscuits, and a selection of interesting cheese biccies and cheeses. He will love it.

We have a £20 limit and fill a stocking. No proper gifts..

My reply might be a bit tone deaf, now I re-read it. He's getting cheese bics in a tin, and cheeses.

We don't do gifts, I really don't feel we need to. Pennies go on the kids. Our mutual gift to each other is a nice bottle of sparkling wine to share on Christmas Day! Works for us.

CourtneeLuv · 06/11/2022 19:18

We haven't got kids and we live abroad, so it's just us.

I usually try to do experiences instead of 'stuff' but want to put together a box of gifts. Small things I can pick up from here or there from now.

Voucher for clothes coz he needs some

mac1974 · 06/11/2022 20:57

I've got him a dressing gown from primark it's lovely actually fleecy inside and waffle on the outside so I'm pleased with that as he does feel the cold more recently then just bits really such as socks, nice shower gel, chocs, pjs, shirt, long sleeved top. He's really hard to buy for so I just get him bits to open rather than a big expensive gift that will get wasted. Like others, we spend our money on the kids and nice food/drinks for the festive season.

CourtneeLuv · 10/11/2022 16:29

I'm going to get a dressing gown and slipper boots from primark or equivalent, maybe some fleecy pyjamas. Some wireless earphones and a tablet stand from amazon and some little bits like a toblerone, and chocolate santa, I've got a small smelly spray from the supermarket (€1.50) that smelt nice and some salt with turmeric in from Lidl.

Mine is getting a book he wants, a calendar, and something edible. He also has an annual subscription that rolls over every year so I sort of count that too but it doesn't feel like an extra expense as it's been going on for so long iyswim.
