I always wished that we could have learned more about Santiago in Interview with The Vampire(Book and film). He seemed so interesting from the few details we got and I'd rather have spent more time with him than Louis. I do like Louis but he can be a little tedious.

Which side characters did you prefer over the main characters?

Doug Judy would work from Brooklyn 99.
Spike, Oz and Willow from Buffy, even though I love Buff herself.
Zoë and Wash (and probably Kayleigh) from Serenity/Firefly
Agree with Rizzo
Chris In The Morning and Ed from Northern Exposure
Eddie Yeats in Coronation Street back in the day
Bard from The Hobbit (both book and film)

My son suggests Han from Fast and Furious franchise

Charlie and Marcy - Californication. So much better than Hank and Karen.

As soon as I saw this thread I thought anyone except Jenny Lee in Call the Midwife, but I see someone else has already said that!

I also agree about Smithy and Nessa but I think Ruth Jones and James Corden admitted that they found all of the other characters more interesting than Gavin and Stacey themselves.

The books which the early series of Call the Midwife are based on are very good.

Leah over Jacob in Twilight.

Handmaid's Tale - Esther, Holly (June's mother), and Oona (Moira's girlfriend who ran the mission getting refugees out of Chicago in series 4). Also want Mark Tuello's backstory.

Mike in Pretty Little Liars. He's the only sensible one, getting the hell out of Rosewood and not taking his parents' phone calls.

Maris in Frasier.

Sebastian in Brideshead Revisited. When he disappears from the story, Charles is too boring to carry it

Totally agree!

Miss Haversham. What was your family life like that you ended up in that state when jilted at the alter. What had you hoped to get out of the marraige or away from?

Another is Tom Hagen from The Godfather. He was such an interesting character and Part 3 was ruined without him and Robert Duvall.

Emily Blunt's character in The Devil Wears Prada.

Olaf

Love this 😂

For me it's Anita and Bernardo in West Side Story.

SueVineer · 16/12/2022 19:34

Snape in Harry Potter

Emily Blunt's character in The Devil Wears Prada.

I agree with this. The scene where she is in hospital and stuffing her face with everything in sight because she can't go to Paris is utterly brilliantly done. (I have buinge eating disorder and laughed so hard at that as I recognised it perfectly)

Jack and Irina over Sydney and Vaughan in 'Alias'

Rose the Hat over Abra in 'Doctor Sleep'

Lady Dedlock in 'Bleak House' over her insipid daughter Esther

Bertha over Rochester

Malvolio in 'Twelfth Night'

Rose Red over Katy Carr
