What outcome would you expect from this?

I attended a bonfire and fireworks display last night with my son, this was a big deal for him as he is autistic and finds fireworks scary but we got a good pair of ear defenders and went along.

We watched the display from a distance then enjoyed the fairground rides and had something to eat.

Just before leaving we were chatting with some friends just outside the barriers around the bonfire. There was an employee inside the barrier throwing stray pieces of wood etc on the fire.
He must have thrown a box contains fireworks on the fire because moments later we had fireworks exploding all around and over and on the ground next to us. My son was hysterical and as soon as we could we ran a distance.

No other employees came over to help or check we were ok. I wanted to go and find someone to speak to to tell them what had happened but my so was so upset I just had to take him to the car. Once home I realised I have quite a large burn on my neck, my son is still upset and I doubt will be going to anymore firework displays.

I have left messages with organisers but no one there today so will speak with them tomorrow, I obviously want an apology but what other outcomes could I get from this, I think a full inquiry into this is neede. Just looking for others thoughts, thanks

Sorry this happened to you. This was be scary for anyone. I would report it to the local council. They'll surely have needed some sort of permit to run the event and Id have thought that they will have been required to lodge a Health & Safety plan. Id expect an investigation to understand why the rogue fireworks were left lying around. I would ultimately want the organisation who held the bonfire to revise their Health & Safety guidelines and training for next year to ensure it doesn't happen again.
