Just finished J.K. Rowling’s / Robert Galbraith’s latest Strike novel The Ink Black Heart and really need to know what happens next, but the next book won’t be out for at least a year if not more 😂.

What can I read that’s of a similar ilk?

Have you read the DCI Tom Douglas series by Rachel Abbott?
Best read in the right order and if you have a kindle they don't cost much!

No I haven’t @Raera - I will have a look. Thanks 😊.

Anthony Horowitz writes Hawthorne and Horowitz mysteries. I’m not usually a fan of whodunnits but I like these and the Strikes, so I’d recommend them.

I read all the Elizabeth George novels featuring Inspector Lynsey and Barbara ??? novels (Ach can’t remember her last name). Longish and detailed procedurals but with good character stuff.

Thanks both. I’ve ordered the first of the Hawthorn and Horowitz books @Squeezedsquash - thanks for the suggestion.

I love the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths. Ruth is a forensic archaeologist who teams up with a police detective, the series is set in Norfolk.

I dont know if its hits the mark of similar but I love the Strike series and Louise Pennys Inspector Gamache/Three Pines series. It starts off quite gently, very well written and great characters, becomes more gritty as the series goes along. Some of the books are standalone cases while others focus on the ongoing theme of conspiracy in the Surette

Thanks - I’ve had a look at the first books of the two series on Amazon just now and have added both to my basket for later . 😊
