Would you have a fourth Covid jab if pregnant?

roarfeckingroarr · 05/11/2022 09:39

Just that really. I've had my first three without worrying but I wasn't pregnant then. I'm 34, usually slim, no health conditions.

I don't want the fourth but can't really articulate why not. I think it's partly because I don't feel scared of Covid at all and partly because I don't want to take any risks with pregnancy and a fairly new drug.

My husband works in a hospital. He’s seen young and otherwise fit and healthy women struck badly by COVID. The common factor is pregnancy. I’ve just had 4th (old and not pregnant) but would absolutely have the vaccine if I was pregnant.

Grusl · 05/11/2022 11:27

@Diannejb a crazy misinformation website, very helpful 🙄

borderterrierr · 05/11/2022 11:29

Having treated pregnant women with Covid I wouldn't hesitate to

I had the first 2 in pregnancy, 34 and 39 weeks and would again. When my baby got Covid he was absolutely fine although no idea if that was effect of my vaccines

Diannejb · 05/11/2022 11:31

Sadly very sadly it’s not. Check it out.

janie85 · 05/11/2022 11:32

Don't do it OP. You'll be fine without it, so many people are still petrified of covid it's very concerning!

grey12 · 05/11/2022 11:32

No 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes it is a misinformation website.

It is ridiculous to post the ranting misinformation blogs of a conspiracy nut as any sort of authority on anything.

MarigoldMoonStone · 05/11/2022 11:34

No, I’ve not had any. I’m pregnant, and won’t be starting to have them now.

Onebabyandamadcat · 05/11/2022 11:35

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and have had three previous jabs. I am not getting the fourth while pregnant. I had two miscarriages, coincidentally after two previous jabs. I know rationally this is utterly coincidental however can't shake the fear that having the fourth would give me just now. I've taken the flu and whooping cough and I'm not remotely anti-vax (work in a science field). I discussed it with my midwife who agreed that the impact of the heightened anxiety taking it would give me and god forbid the guilt I'd have if anything went wrong (irrational as I know it wouldn't be due to the jab) would probably outweigh the benefits of the additional protection I'd get from the jab.

It's a really personal decision and I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. It's being offered for a reason and will increase protection against covid but if you have doubts you need to weigh up the impact they might have if you are one of the fraction of a percent of people who have adverse outcomes following the jab.

Doowop1919 · 05/11/2022 11:36

Same boat, op. I'm pro-vax and never hesitated getting my first 3 (I was even breastfeeding and I particularly wanted it whilst breastfeeding due to antibodies in the milk which was a struggle here in Germany because it took them ages to approve it whilst breastfeeding and I needed a doctor's note, which no one would give me), but with pregnancy, I'm just uncertain. I'm going to read up on it more before I make a decision but I've had 3 COVID vaccines and had COVID in my first trimester.
I will also be getting the flu one.

grey12 · 05/11/2022 11:36

A lot of people get unwell after taking the vaccination and the last thing you want while pregnant is to induce a fever on purpose 🤦🏻‍♀️

I had one with DD1 and was prescribed suppositories............ just no. It is very dangerous especially in the first trimester

If you're worried use a mask, avoid going to busy places, do delivery shopping, bla bla bla.

Diannejb · 05/11/2022 11:37

I’m so glad to read your post!

Redhop · 05/11/2022 11:37

Absolutely not

roarfeckingroarr · 05/11/2022 10:00

I've had my flu jab. I'm just a bit wary of the Covid jab (despite having 3) and don't feel worried about Covid. Maybe because these jobs have been hurried out or because I think the priority is "protecting the nhs" rather than protecting individuals (my baby). I've never felt this way about a vaccine before so trying to work out why and whether it's rational.

God are we still thinking that these jabs have been “hurried out?” Hmm

Seriously I read these posts now and genuinely think they have been put up to scare people on purpose.

Surely everyone knows by now how these vaccinations were funded, manufactured and clinically assessed? The information is out there for you to learn if not.

You absolutely should be worried about covid. If cases rise, or you/partner get it, it will make your birth experience much more difficult (having to go in alone etc).

I gave birth when covid restrictions were relaxing but still quite strict, and it wasn’t as good an experience as in normal conditions.

SirCharlesRainier · 05/11/2022 11:39

Yes of course. But it's personal decision and if you've swallowed the "rushed out" angle then I doubt you're open to discussion so a bit of a pointless thread really. All the best.

Hazlenutlatte23 · 05/11/2022 11:42

I've had mine. Didn't feel ill afterwards. I looked at the risks from the vaccine (no evidence of any currently) and the risks from getting covid in pregnancy (known serious risks). I just don't think i could forgive myself if I got ill from covid in the 3rd trimester and it affected my baby - knowing I could have prevented it by having the jab.
I also work in a high covid environment (school) and also am a high risk pregnancy so likely i will be in hospital for some of my pregnancy which is another covid breeding ground! I had covid prepregnancy and was quite ill with it, so yes I am scared of catching covid!

blebbleb · 05/11/2022 11:43

I'm 8 weeks but I don't want a booster. I
Hope not to be offered one. I had Covid very mildly previously and have had 3 jabs already (Pfizer). If I was to have another it would only be Pfizer as some of the others seem to have more severe side effects. Have already had my flu jab and will have the whooping cough one soon.

RecordPlayer · 05/11/2022 11:44

Had the first two while pregnant, third while breastfeeding, and recently fourth while pregnant again. Sore arms but no other side effects.
We all got covid about 3 months after my third jab and baby was least affected by it.

canyoutoleratethis · 05/11/2022 11:52

Letthekidsplay · 05/11/2022 11:20

No. My husband has now got a pacemaker we believe due to myocarditis caused by having 3 vaccines. I would not get a covid ‘vaccine’

Well, if you believe it, then it must be true. 🙄 Jesus. I'm sorry about your husband's heart condition, but take your tin foil hat off and stop spreading such dangerous anti-vax nonsense.

OP. I'm pregnant and I'm having the jab next week. I prefer to make my decisions based on actual science, and all the science says it is the best thing to do in order to protect myself and my unborn child. End of discussion.

Badger1970 · 05/11/2022 11:52

It's a very personal choice OP. I would chat it through with your MW and GP.

I'm not having a 4th as the previous 3 have made me really unwell, and I just can't afford to make myself run down right now.

roarfeckingroarr · 05/11/2022 13:11

Bit of a pointless post of yours in that case.

I'm genuinely on the fence. This morning I deciddd to get it and now some of these posts, especially the ones involving miscarriage, have made me reconsider.

I really want a non-biased, no vested interests information source

OP posts:
canyoutoleratethis · 05/11/2022 13:23

@roarfeckingroarr your non biased, no vested interest source is the UK's medicines regulator who approved the vaccine. Why do you think they would approve a vaccine that harmed people? Research the process they have undertaken and you'll realise the science behind why it has been proven safe and therefore approved for use.

Verbena87 · 05/11/2022 13:30

Go for it!

I’m 35, slim, fit, eat my greens etc etc but not recently boosted. I’m on day 7 and still struggling to get out of bed/eat. Would hate to experience this with pregnancy symptoms on top.

my dad’s 65, slim, fit, eats his greens etc etc and recently boosted. On day 5 he was back to cycling 30 hilly miles and getting on with life.
