@NImumconfused oh it’s just a shitter! Can’t believe you did handmade decorations too! I’ve just shoved up the usual birthday bunting (shop bought!) and luckily he had just requested chocolate cheesecake so not elaborate this year although I think this may be the first year it has been such an easy request. Had to run to the corner shop for more double cream. Only had the longlife stuff of course so had to go a bit further to the next one 🤦🏽‍♀️ Anyway, they are about to go in the fridge to set and he still has an appetite so even if he hasn’t now caught the sick bug from dh who he has been cosied up in bed with for the past couple of hours he will still have some tomorrow…
locating the tortoise is next on my list!

@RichardsGear oh man I do not miss working with kids in this respect! I used to keep a spare pair of clothes and shoes at work for this reason. Poor both of you!!!
and my eldest is now at uni but before she passed her driving test and moved away she worked in hospitality which involved me being up until very late to pick her up (my choice, she was happy to get a taxi but I thought it was the nice mum thing to collect her) - always on a Friday and Saturday night!!!

They can pay us back by ferrying us around when we're in our dotage!

God, I thought I was having a bad week with two sick kids on half term and my washing machine breaking. We were trapped indoors today waiting on the replacement arriving just for the bloke to tell me he couldn't plumb it in. 😡

One You Tube video later and now I am an expert in washing machine installation. Should start my own business charging £25 like Curry's wanted.

Decided to go away for a break by the seaside as DD was having potential respiratory issues at childminder. Got to fab rented house and on day three dd got worse, only to find out owners possibly have a dog. Took her to doctor, steroid inhaler, regular inhaler and steroid tablets. Had to come back on Friday instead of Sunday as I didn't want her being exposed to potential allergens. Arrrrghh can't even have a holiday without drama 😬😬😬

God. This puts my day into perspective. Just having to go into the office makes me stressed.

I got bugger all done for the past 2 days because people kept coming over and talking. I even put big noise blocking headphones on but nobody took the hint.

So I get pissed off and end up eating big hunks of cake from the cafe so now I feel fat. And the caffeine from the latte is making my heart race so I can't sleep.

But compared to what has happened to other people on here I will shut up.

@TheChosenTwo Well done you for managing to get cheesecake made in the middle of all the chaos. I was a SAHM for a couple of years at that point and went a bit bonkers with the arts & crafts!

Glad the tortoise has been recovered - our neighbours have one and I've been amazed how far he can get. Last time he went missing we were all out looking round the streets and he turned up in one of their kitchen cupboards!

Well @Scrambledeggsontoasted that is just shitty luck having kids poorly over half term and then the washing machine conking out on top - icing on the shitty cake being the bloke not being able to fix it but the cherry on top is your new found skill!
@whiteroseredrose to be honest I lost all perspective too, reality is that all will be well here and I was just having a fuming time juggling everything and dropping balls (and fucking cream) all over the place. Just because someone else is having a bad day it doesn’t make your crapiness any less valid. So don’t shut up, you can keep going!
I really was going to call a friend and just fume down the phone at her for a full 5 minutes but then decided to get it all out here instead.
I have friends who would have listened, friends who would have offered to try and help, friends who would have been lovely. But sometimes I remember that MN can be a really useful outlet as well as a good source of information and somewhere to waste 10 minutes while you’re waiting at the dentist.
@NImumconfused we are honestly constantly still amazed at the places he can get to in short spaces of time! They’re so speedy 😂 he’s safely back home now, someone had taken him out of his house for a roam around the actual house and he had taken the opportunity to go on the prowl!

Shit day at work
Ended with an employee I was informing about changes to their work pod to provide assistance to them with some issues they have, telling me I was no longer to communicate with her directly and everything has to go through her solicitor
DD opens the door to me in my mother's house (we were invited to dinner as my DB was visiting) in tears as siblings and cousins were annoying her.
Calm.her down and sit for dinner where she proceeds to start bawling again for same reason.
I told her to come away from the table as we were leaving and everyone looked at me like I had lost the plot.

I just wanted some calm after a shitty day at work.

Didn't get home til near 9 then so.kids overtired and now 2 yo has woken and I'm now lying on her floor hoping she goes back asleep and stays asleep til morning.

The glass of wine I desperately wanted to have on a Friday night remains in the unopened bottle.

Happy frigging Friday.

Oh and that is all on top.of 2 weeks of DC sickness where one ended up in an.ambulance being called for febrile convulsions and then a second trip to urgent care for a dislocated elbow. I just want to relax and for life to be calm!

I don't really have a stressfull job now. I get occasional aggro from visitors /parents of patients who can take their frustrations out on me but when it is home time I can shrug it off! I do get pissy when my computer doesn't work (I keep getting locked out of it. A bit annoying Monday to Friday 9-5 when I can call IT but at the weekends........ Waaaaaaaagh!

Any 'stress' is normally my own doing caused by me.

Fuck sake @Jesusmaryjosephandtheweedon - I can see why you feel the Universe is screwing your over at the moment! Hope the dc are all okay, and what a stressful couple of weeks you’ve had 🥴 febrile convulsions are terrifying, my nephew had a few when he was younger, it’s so scary to watch. 💐

@Deathraystare I’ve recently changed jobs too to one which is better paid and far less stressful, and I too feel a lot of my stress is my own doing! Which makes me feel more cross 😂😂😂

I knew last night that it was a lot to do with pressure I put on myself to have everything ‘perfect’ for the dcs birthdays. In reality, they don’t care. And my lovely family and friends wouldn’t give a shit tonight if they came round and the hand towel in the downstairs loo didn’t match the decor. Or if there were school bags on the doormat inside. Or if I had steamed my kitchen floor. But I do!
