Inflating car tyres - help please

I absolutely hate inflating my car tyres and I don't have anybody to ask for help or to do it for me.

I hate it because of the stupid pump that has to plug into the cigarette lighter and barely reaches each wheel.

And I hate it because when I unscrew the pump (after inflating) I can never get the bastard thing of quickly. No matter how quickly I try and unscrew it, loads of air comes out, and the tyre doesn't look any fuller. So I go back to the start and do it a again, then again, then give up thinking "what a waste of my time, I'm cold and I've got sore filthy hands and my legs hurt, and it hasn't made any bloody difference and now I'm stressed because I have no idea how inflated they actually are!!"

What is the answer please? I can't pay somebody to do it every few weeks… I need a better pump? I have two, one digital and one not. Both with the shitty bastard screw attachment things.

Is one with a lever better? Will it come off more quickly? Do these have problems of their own?

I know this is the first world problem but every time I try and inflate my car tyres I get really cross!!

Do they go down between these checks? If so, there is likely a problem. Perhaps a very slow puncture or you wheels need sanding down.

It's great that you're taking safety so seriously and thinking about it, I probably check every 2-3 months too (20k per annum driver which I think is relevant here not just a stealth brag etc) but if you do less, I'd do it less often. Mine don't change between checks.

Oo I quite like doing it. But definitely do it at a petrol station. It's much easier.

And you can also fill up your screen wash at some machines. Do not ever spray the 'scent' that Asda machines have. It's awful!

I use a pump I bought off Amazon. Really easy - it's like a round cable that unwinds and then you wind it back up (are you sure there isn't a little lever you haven't seen? Can you pull more cable out?) mine has a digital display that I set and it beeps when it's done. I never worry about the cap going back on, I don't think air escapes that quickly.
