Pricing for PTA event!

We're doing a school event and will be having a cake sale etc. As it's near bonfire night we'll be selling some chocolate dipped marshmallows, but are unsure of pricing! What would you expect to pay for one marshmallow with chocolate and sprinkles? 20p, 50p? We don't want to be left with loads afterwards!

I am listening, but it just seems that people think we are offering plain individual marshmallows!
It is a good idea to put a couple on one stick, kebab style.
The chocolate will be set, trying to keep mess potential down!
This is for primary aged children as well, not secondary.

I don't think any poster believes you're just selling the mashmallow, and it's odd you think that's the reason for criticism.

Selling 2 small marshmallows with a bit of chocolate and sprinkles for 50p isn't going to generate much interest. Especially if people can also buy a bag of sweets for 20p, and I would be surprised if you made any sales.

Putting a little more effort like wrapping them, adding a few to kebab sticks and making them easier to eat will help boost the price you can charge and how many you will sell.

They were always going to be on sticks, and it's not just these, they're not the main event! It's hot chocolate, cakes etc.

I wonder how many people criticising and saying the op needs to put more effort in volunteer for free with the pta at their children's school.

I was on the pta for years and the amount of criticising some people did while simultaneously not offering any help themselves was shocking.

Op, 3 on a stick with chocolate and sprinkles for 50p sounds a great price. Thank you for helping your school to raise much needed money.

inappropriateraspberry · 04/11/2022 10:00

Thank you @Sherrystrull. I am organising the whole thing.
I'm doing 2 on a stick. Looks good. I'll show you the finished product! You'd think I'd posted on AIBU!
All I wanted was to gauge pricing ideas, not a critique of the product!

I hope the event goes well! I'm sure the children will love it.

2 for 50p seems reasonable.
I would roughly cost it by working out how much the ingredients will cost and double it. Then round to nearest easy to pay amount per unit.

MintyGreenDreams · 04/11/2022 10:06

20p or 6 for a pound

CourtneeLuv · 04/11/2022 10:21

You could also sell individual ones for 10p for the kids with less money.

inappropriateraspberry · 05/11/2022 20:02

Didn't get a picture before - but this was all that was left. A couple of 'slight seconds.' 😆 All sold at 50p and sweets sold as well at 20p.

Super, so glad it went well. Smile
it is stressful doing PTA things!

Saz12 · 06/11/2022 09:21

Glad it went well!

Though chocolate dipped marshmallows are peculiarly revolting. I like both individually, but together???? Bleeeuuurrccggh.

inappropriateraspberry · 06/11/2022 09:27

They're good stirred into your hot chocolate!

What on earth is wrong with the people saying "they'll look/sell better if wrapped in cellophane"? They were for eating, there and then, they don't need unnecessary PLASTIC for goodness sake to "look better"!! What would you be teaching those children if you did that?

We need to get back to understanding what good food looks like and tastes like without excessive presentation and only using the minimum of packaging for genuine quality and transportation purposes, and which is recyclable.

Well done OP 😀

inappropriateraspberry · 06/11/2022 12:44

Thanks, yes as a PTA we do try and consider our impact. Recyclable/biodegradable cups if using, less plastic etc.

2 for 50p
5 for £1
Pre-bag the 5s - much easier!
