I always worry that I might over or under react to these things.

DH has a bite (unknown insect) on the back of his thigh. I've drawn a ring around which shows the hard area and where it is burning hot to touch.

Otherwise, he feels fine.

I am worried it'll get worse overnight and we really can't afford for him to get medical attention tomorrow as he doesn't get paid if he's off work.

Can he take an antihistamine? I probably wouldn't seek any medical attention for this of it were me.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 03/11/2022 21:52

I wouldn't do anything at all. It wouldn't even cross my mind to be the slightest bit concerned about it. Just go to bed and forget about it.

FatAntelope · 03/11/2022 21:55

He'll be fine. He can go to a chemist at the weekend.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 03/11/2022 21:55

Has he got a history of having a violent reaction to a bite or sting?

I can barely see anything.

I’m sure he will be fine.

Eggygirl · 03/11/2022 21:56

Does your DH know you're posting this photo on a public, albeit anonymous forum? I think that's pretty strange, tbh. Take an antihistamine, stick on some Savlon, take a cool bath, ring 111 or even go to A&E if you want to waste valuable resources. But don't post shit like that, ffs

JetBlackSteed · 03/11/2022 21:57

Like pp, I'd take antihistamine, maybe rub a bit if germolene or something into it. Speak to pharmacist at weekend at a push if it's worse / sore.

ApolloandDaphne · 03/11/2022 21:58

That is just a tiny nibble. It wouldn't even register if me or DH had been bitten like that. Get him to take an antihistamine then forget about it.

Serena1977 · 03/11/2022 22:01

Super, thanks for all your advice. You've all been very kind and helpful.

If a grown man is whinging about what looks to be the world’s smallest ever insect bite then I would be more concerned about him being a big baby rather than anything untoward happening because of the teeny tiny bite!

BobbyBobbyBobby · 03/11/2022 22:03

Sorry.

Wigeon · 03/11/2022 22:12

Hang on, the bite itself looks about 3cm in diameter, and the circle of where it’s hard and burning hot to touch looks to be about 20cm wide by 10cm high - it looks like it’s covering most of the width of his thigh. Is that about right OP? Have people noticed the photo is of his whole leg, not just a finger or something? That’s not a minor bite! However, if he is generally feeling ok I’d also probably see how he was in the morning.

Eggygirl · 03/11/2022 22:29

@Wigeon it looks like it’s covering most of the width of his thigh. Seriously? Not sure we're looking at same picture.
Really? That's not his finger? I wasnt sure, even though he has his pants pulled down and his underwear on show. Thanks for the anatomy lesson. Very helpful.

40andfit · 03/11/2022 22:35

Assume he is fit and well tonight I would ask a pharmacist tomorrow if it’s an issue for him.

40andfit · 03/11/2022 22:43

Is that not two separate bites? If he is worried now there will be late night pharmacy open somewhere.
