Sorry to start another thread about them but I've got a damp house with mould in the bathroom and one bedroom and I'm wondering whether to get one. We're constantly cleaning it off well DH is. The letting agency are sending someone out. Didn't want to tell them in case the rent goes up but it's getting out of hand now. They sent someone ages ago who painted over it and it came back. Anyway could a dehumidifier on the landing help and what would you recommend. Thank you 😊

@Parmesam that's really good to know. I can't wait to turn it on tomorrow🤣. The wallpaper in the box room has started peeling.

I got an argos value one years ago, it was about £100 but its still going. We got it for my sons room as there was a lot of black mould in it, it worked brilliantly and not only did the room feel warmer but the quality of the air in the room felt cleaner too. We got the bedroom insulated later on and that solved the mould problem permanently, we use the dehumidifier in the bathroom now in the the winter and it's terrific. Will definitely replace it when it eventually dies.

I've got one. It's great, and it does pump out heat. But it uses 500w.
I use it with a hosrpipe. This means it never stops unless low humidity is reached.and you don't have to empty it. It has an eco setting that's 300w

I find it gives me a background warmth and you don't get the damp when the washing out.but it's power hungry.

I havea meaco 12l platinum, which switches of automatically.. amazing machine...took GALLONS out of my house at the beginning.. but now I use it over night to dry laundry indoors..4 full loads.. jeans, school uniforms, towels, jumpers etc..
Much much cheaper than tumble drier and leaves the house completely dry.
Got mine from Appliances Direct... no issues.

I have 2 of these, one downstairs and one in my bedroom. They're great, quite quiet so I run one while I'm asleep as i used to wake up to a lot of condensation on the bedroom windows

I also have a Karcher window vac and it's great too, especially for shower doors/ bathroom mirror after a shower. It's also handy for washing windows, inside and out

Bonbon21 · 05/11/2022 22:22

Just to add... I would suggest you put it in the worst room and close windows and door...check after a few hours... you will be amazed at the amount of water collected.
Dry out one area at a time.. and remember if you leave a window open you are dehumidifying the world!!😉😉
Also be aware that the humidity in the air varies hugely depending where you live in the UK... the south of England is a lot drier than the north of Scotland... that may sound an obvious thing to say but lots of folk dont realise that!🤷🏻‍♀️

We've just ordered one from Currys. I usually dry the washing in our back bedroom and I'm noticing it's taking longer to dry. We're also getting what looks like a bit of black mould on the wall so we're hoping that a dehumidifier helps this.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/11/2022 21:16

Had it on all day. Started on 80 and it's now about 60. It needed emptying once. It's doing well.
