Could a 2-4 week course of diazepam be enough to reset my anxiety ?

Are you being offered it or do you want to ask for it?

2-4 weeks is any treatment is short if you have anxiety unless it's a specific short term issue creating it.

Unlikely an NHS GP will prescribe diazepam like that though - I got 5 days at a 2mg dose when I was very unwell. And it did nothing at all.

Are you on any other meds? I find St John's Wort more effective for me than sertraline.

I have used diazepam for 2 weeks after a bout of bad anxiety to get into a better headspace but don’t think you should do longer than that.

im on Fluoxetine and that really helps

also , great book I read helped me with most recent bad period of anxiety. I got the audio book so could just relax and take it in. British writer which I preferred and very down to earth. First time I’ve understood WHY I have anxiety, as well as great tips for managing it.

John Crawford, Anxiety Relief: Self Help (With Heart) For Anxiety, Panic Attacks, And Stress Management

sending hugs, you’re not alone and it does get better xx

No, I don't think so, and they'll probably be super reluctant to prescribe that due to potential addiction.

On the other hand, 9-12 months on an SSRI might do the trick.

I have anxiety, diazepam won't help you reroute those brain pathways.
The evidence base for exercise is really compelling, is that something you're using at the moment?
Breath work and mindfulness are also two really useful tools, breath work can help soothe your nervous system and mindfulness has evidence around changing brain pathways with regulate practise.
The ideas in ACT therapy have helped me alot, see The Happiness Trap by Russell Harris is a good introduction to ACT.

I've had to make a conscious decision not to feed my anxiety or fight it but to accept it and it's got quieter and quieter because of that I think. I've cut alcohol and caffeine too which has helped me.

Sorry *regular not regilate

No but venlafaxine would help.
It will take around 2 weeks to work and for that two weeks you'll feel tired and bit spaced out but when that passes you'll be feeling great.
It is a long term drug though.

Diazapam isn't good to take for weeks, I've found it works as a one off for an extreme panic attack to bring you back down but that it will just give you a sore head if you take it for a number of days.

Holistic things like reiki and massage would help take the edge off of anxiety so you feel more in control and give your brain a rest.
