Have name changed so as not to link this to my normal username.
I'm due to go into surgery for brain surgery to remove a large but benign brain tumor. It's pretty serious surgery and whilst everything should (I hope!) go smoothly I do need to prepare for the worst. Obviously the worst is death but there is also a risk I could end up losing my sight or having a stroke.
I'm having a will prepared but I've also decided to do LPAs for finances and health. I've started having the very difficult conversations with DH about what I do and don't want in terms of ongoing care but it's very hard for both of us to process and I just want to make sure I've considered everything.
I'm not sure whether this is quite the right topic area but I figured there must be people who've had the same dilemma for themselves or close family.
So far we've covered:
Finances-list accounts, usernames and passwords. Pension account numbers. Work pension,
death in service benefit, sick pay entitlement and long term disability policy.
Care-DNR, whether I want him to care for me, moving/adapting the home.
Is there anything we've not considered? If it were to happen to you and/or you'd need to care for a loved one who no longer has capacity what would you want to know?
