It's usually apple, I think.

Beginningless · 02/11/2022 19:01

Definitely looks chickeny 🤢

cookiecreammmpie · 02/11/2022 19:02

No I've seen clumps in curry sauce before but it's not chicken. It said on the pack it was vegetarian.

I don't think anyone can give you a definitive answer from the photo. Have you asked the shop?

cookiecreammmpie · 02/11/2022 19:03

It's soya protein.

RagzRebooted · 02/11/2022 19:04

I would think it highly unlikely. It's made up from a packet mix usually, sometimes it's lumpy by design and sometimes they haven't mixed it very well.

MikeyFuckinWay · 02/11/2022 19:04

I text the chippy guy and he said it was suitable for veggies so I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ Can’t unsee it now haha

It's soya protein.

Could well be, pot noodles used to have this in.

DahliaMacNamara · 02/11/2022 19:08

It's highly unlikely to be chicken. Some commercial curry sauce mixes contain beef suet, but vegetarian versions from the same manufacturer are equally readily available.

polkadotpixie · 02/11/2022 19:11

That's always in curry sauce isn't it? It's soya protein

PolaDeVeboise · 02/11/2022 19:56

That looks like no curry sauce I've ever seen - it's always totally smooth.

Pandorapitstop · 02/11/2022 20:16

I think it's apple.

mouse26 · 02/11/2022 20:22

From my short experience of working in a chippy, the curry sauce was made up from a powder mix, the lumpy bits were powder that hadn't mixed properly

Grumpybutfunny · 02/11/2022 20:23

We make ours from scratch it's apple and hasn't been strained to remove at the end.

strangelyenough · 02/11/2022 20:23

I don't know what it is but I'm very jealous cause that's the best type of curry sauce but you don't get it like that where I live!

strangelyenough · 02/11/2022 20:25

Also stupid as it sounds it's the chips you need to check are vegetarian friendly, my dd was vegetarian for a while and it turns out a surprising number of chip shops do their chips in a beef dripping 😟

MarmiteCoriander · 02/11/2022 20:26

I've never seen a curry sauce with 'bits' in it- but thought it looked like bits of dried garlic initially. Doesn't look like chicken at all! FAR more likely to be apple if that is what normally goes in it.

Boxin · 02/11/2022 20:29

Yes normal and veggie round here.

Boxin · 02/11/2022 20:30

Sorry, should have been clearer. No it’s not chicken, it is veggie.

MyRiverThee · 02/11/2022 20:30

Our local chip shop used to have one that contained chicken 🤮 and then a vegan one. They only do the vegan one now as they sold much more of it.

If they’ve said it vegetarian then it should be, but I’d give it a miss if you’re not sure.

Munches · 02/11/2022 20:31

That looks amazing

it looks revolting but I know it tastes amazing!

Propertyporn · 02/11/2022 20:33

Where would one purchase this chip shop curry sauce packet mix? 🤔

GCITC · 02/11/2022 20:34

It's proper chip shop curry sauce. Made with bits of apple. Bloody lovely it is too.

maddiemookins16mum · 02/11/2022 20:36

Am I the only person (I’m 58) who has never had chip shop curry sauce? (or Nandos).
