IkEA extendable bed or other?

DD2.3 is currently in a cot bed with no sides. She doesn't fall out, but she gets frustrated as she can't lay across it and spread out (seems very narrow)

I've been looking into the extendable beds in IKEA as this is still toddler size but wider.

Part of me is just thinking to get a standard single bed but the extendable beds look cosy and snuggly.

Her room will fit a double bed, but would then lose the floor space for her to be able to play.

Any advice would be welcome.

Get a normal, lowish single bed.

We have the extendable bed, very comfy but a touch longer than bog standard bedding when on full size which is a bit of a pain.

@Twilightstarbright would you recommend them?? Which one do you have? Do you have to get the bending from IKEA?

They grow so quickly, we got a single for my ds after the cot.

We got it as DS had a small room. It’s good but I’d probably just get a daybed from ikea. Most versatile bed as it can be a double/kind but day to day allows floor space as a single.

What about a trundle style bed? You can push it back in when not being used so there would be space to play.

We have the extendable bed from IKEA - got it for DD when she moved out of the nursery as DS was due.
We liked that it extended so meant she had more bedroom to play in for longer; the higher sides meant she couldn't easily roll out.
As it's lower than a standard single, that helped a lot with both DC getting in & out on their own.
Got the bedding from IKEA - you get two sheets in the pack.
DS (4) now has that bed since he's moved out of his cotbed - DD (8) now has a high sleeper cabin bed & we will move DS to a mid sleeper cabin bed probably next year when he's more confident on the steps/going to the loo in the night.
I think it's a great bed for the toddler/preschooler years - when we've stayed away DS isn't great on normal single beds - too high & often rolls out. But due to room size we need to maximise the space hence going for canon beds further down the line.
Also I'm not sure how comfortable it would be for an older child as the mattress is quite thin in comparison to standard single mattresses.
