What can I do to help him?

I want to make his last few days comfortable and as fulfilled as possible.

So far, I've got:

Bring cupcakes
Homemade Caribbean food
Caribbean confectionery

I want to take some photos as memories

Those who have been in this position, what have you done/ brought for your loved one in the last days/ a week of their life?

I'm going to bring Dd's Yoto Player and bring her "make your own" card to record a message from him hopefully.

Any suggestions welcome please.

i'm sorry to hear that, how awful for you all.

how about a playlist of his favourite songs, something he can listen to in the background.

Thank you so much! This is a great idea.

I wonder if I can get him a cheap mp3 player or something

Thank you

Your list is all food based but gently, is he able to eat/taste etc??

I ask because when my families member was in his last days, eating was very difficult and distressing.

Is there anything from home that would be a comfort? Photos etc?

Music is a good suggestion.

Sorry you are facing this.

Off to buy an Echo Dot thank you.

He's eating little bits so my plan is to take baby sized portions of bits to eat just for him to taste but he isn't eating much.

I'm thinking to print out some photos that I have and buying a photo book. He isn't one for photos so I only have ones of family but I might have some old ones of him.

Thanks for the ideas. Really appreciate them.

Some massage oils to massage his hands/feet
Some lip balm, DH's lips got sore and dry at this stage

At the end of my mums life the only things that helped were music and lavender hand cream

Is there anyone dear to him that could visit, who he has not seen for a while.

Sorry to read of this.

My dad asked for chocolate. He was diabetic. The doctor said if it's what he wants it wasn't going to make any difference to the outcome. So we bought him some Galaxy bars as diabetic chocolate aren't very nice. We fed him a square at a time when he asked for it. It was an easy food to feed him because it melts in the mouth.
We also brought in some flowers from the garden.

Hey...when my DF and DM were dying (4 years apart and both at home), we played music (Jim Reeves to modern day) we sat around their bed quietly eating and drinking...occasionally someone would read a verse from the bible....friends and neighbours popping in sitting downstairs playing dominoes whilst some cooked food...my parents were an integral part of their community and it was a very fitting and comforting way to go... I wish you and your family well x
