How did you increase your energy levels?

I am very tired at the moment. Other than caffeine, which doesn't seem to work on me for some reason, what have you done to improve your energy levels?

Iron and Magnesium.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 02/11/2022 12:13

Floradix is a great way to get extra iron.

If you haven’t had bloods taken you can pull your lower eyelid down and if the inner but is very pale or white it can mean you have an iron deficiency.

Its the bit you might line either eyeliner!

I also take a twenty minute nap every day and that fully recharges me.

Sprig1 · 02/11/2022 12:28

Getting outside always works for me. Extra effective if you combine with some gentle exercise.

zebraprint12 · 02/11/2022 12:33

Power nap at lunch time or after work, healthy food, omega3 and Multivitamins

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 02/11/2022 12:46

Several things, Vitamin d tablets, strict routines that I don’t have to ‘think’ about for nearly all areas of life, cut right back on stuff I don’t want to do/doesn’t make an appreciable difference to the quality of life/offend to many important to me people - so money for gifts/no Christmas cards etc etc. Finally eating what I enjoy (bugger diets) and working a job that gives me a life balance and I enjoy, even if it means giving up stuff other people think is essential.
nearly forgot - ignoring other critics of your lifestyle choices. (So long as those choices don’t impact on others eg not showering is a definite no no).

chisum · 02/11/2022 12:50

Berocca and walking every day

ImEasyLikeSundayMorning · 02/11/2022 13:02

Cut out alcohol entirely and take iron.

Drinking wine and having heavy periods are the two things that give me fatigue/exhaustion/zero energy

OverTheHillAndDownTotherSide · 02/11/2022 13:06

I cut out caffeine about 18 months ago. And sugar. And anything in a packet. Take iron and a good multivit. 2l+ of water a day. Maximise good protein and variety of veg.

i have the energy of a toddler.

PineapplePear · 02/11/2022 13:07

id recommend probiotics. We all eat less than we need these days due to modern farming methods, and as your first gut bacteria are passed from mother to child, each generation has lower good bacteria than the last.

Poor gut health can cause all sorts of chronic ailments - tiredness, anxiety, depression, nausea, weight gain/loss, as well as very painful aches and pains.

A bad tummy bug, antacids or antibiotics can be enough to tip the balance so you have notable symptoms.

I recommend drinking a small shot of kefir each day - it is very rich in probiotics, some of which just pass through your system, fertilising your good bacteria, and some of which stay in your system giving it an extra boost.

Probiotic tablets are also good, but only fertilise your good bacteria and can be difficult to adjust the dose to avoid upset tummy.

HappyHolidai · 02/11/2022 13:08

Drinking lots of water.
Multivitamin & minerals daily
Walking every day (not for miles, just a couple of trips outside)
Getting enough sleep
Not trying to do everything!

WalkingOnSonshine · 02/11/2022 13:09

I’ve cut out caffeine, sugar and processed foods. I’m taking a probiotic and Vitamin D tablets & feel great, despite having a nearly 2 year old who still wakes in the night.

Shitfather · 02/11/2022 13:24

Physical activity - specifically hot yoga. It’s been life changing for me.

theyoungishman · 02/11/2022 13:25

Stop drinking alcohol.. you will be amazed at your energy levels after a few weeks!!

Apileofballyhoo · 02/11/2022 13:38

B12 shots and HRT.

NairobiGal · 02/11/2022 13:41

Sleep! Lots of it

ChillysWaterBottle · 03/11/2022 09:12

Ah these are brilliant thanks everybody. I agree with sleep but unfortunately my 13 month old has other ideas haha. I don't really ever drink anymore but I do eat quite badly. I think I will look into iron supplements as well as kefir, and trying to walk more as I gave it up as soon as I could get baby to nap in his cot not his Pram as I was walking for hours just to get him to sleep. Also vit D sounds good. I think I am anaemic since the doctor said I was a few months ago but I weirdly kind of forgot, which I know doesn't make sense, but when I get sleep deprived I stop thinking straight.

Thanks again x x

If you're anemic, that's why you're exhausted.

Simple as that. Iron, and not the crap in liquid form, the stuff the GP prescribes.

Threads like this are basically a waste of time if you know you're anemic and you haven't treated it.

BoredOfLooking · 03/11/2022 13:47

All these answers are really good. Can I add that the more I do outside - gardening, walking, whatever, the more energy I have. It IS the exercise, but it’s also the fresh air and, most importantly, the light levels.

ASMRTingles · 03/11/2022 13:51

I’m finding basic yoga is helping me. I felt tired and bloated on my period yesterday and didn’t feel like doing it at all, but I did and felt so much better.

SkiingIsHeaven · 03/11/2022 14:12

As stupid as it sounds, doing some exercise gave me more energy.

Crispsmakemehappy · 03/11/2022 14:26

ImEasyLikeSundayMorning · 03/11/2022 15:39

RTFT - all the answers are pointless, exercise etc

Shes low in iron.

Nothing will help except iron.

Lucyjess · 03/11/2022 16:01

Have a job you enjoy. It gets the adrenaline flowing throughout the week.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/11/2022 16:31

I did whole30 (no sugar, dairy, grains, processed food or alcohol for 30 days) - felt absolutely amazing. Every now and then I gear myself up for another round. But I personally can’t keep it up for too long and couldn’t do it full time.
