Gosh what do I do.

I know you're suppose to exchange details but I declined his offer

I feel such an idiot! I'm not interested in his money. He was at fault but he didn't harm my car but for a tiny tiny dent. I was just so glad to be okay along with my baby

My daughter cried and then smiled within 2 minutes! She's fine.

However, so was I. But I've just got home and started eating dinner

My bloody neck kills! It really hurts!

Do I need to call someone? Help me calm myself. I have no family to call - they panic and become hysterical over nothing much

Im clearly fine! But I just need a logical person to tell me what to do here

Will the NHS tell me off for not taking this persons details?

Until the next piece of research says otherwise. People can only do their best with the knowledge they have and the pockets that allow them. You just came across as both condescending and smug.

Research is based on previous cases as well as science. Forward facing toddlers won’t suddenly stop dying or being seriously injured, and rear facing toddlers won’t suddenly start snapping their necks so it’s unlikely they’ll be any new research that says otherwise.

the problem is is the government taking their time updating the laws to reflect this. You say parents do best with the knowledge they have at the time, well the knowledge is out there clear as day. Many are well aware and have the cheaper car seats that rear face until 4.5 years but prefer their child to forward face. I see many parents turning them forward from 12 months. I am derailing now but they’d be a lot less child deaths/injuries if we followed the Swedish approach - they have none.

if you can afford to run a car, you can afford a £80+ car seat.

The NHS might want to know but if you don't have the details, so what?

It's already been said, none injury exchange of details ( which the OP declined) is enough, injury means reporting ASAP to a police station or in any case with 24 hours, neither of which the OP has done.

Were I the other driver I would have gone to the police and told them the other party had refused to exchange details, just to cover my arse.

Don't get caught up in who was to blame for the accident, the police really won't be bothered unless there is a ton of evidence and it's an easy case, minor shunts happen all the time.

But refusal to exchange details is an easy slam dunk.

Yes I got shunted from behind not very fast and still got whiplash. It started a few hours after. Definitely go a&e and tell your insurance company. Wether you can claim is another matter.

You think people should go to A&E for a bit of sore neck after a fender bender? It’s hardly an emergency is it. Some people are so dramatic. No wonder wait times at hospitals are as bad as they are.

There would be excess to pay as she hadn’t taken his details though. Since she didn’t take his details I was working on that premise.

I’m aware of that, I read the OP. Insurance companies want you to replace car seats after they’ve been involved in an accident, so will provide a voucher for these without excess deduction regardless of who was at fault for the accident. As she didn’t take details of the other driver, it will however go down as a fault claim on her insurance and her premiums will increase accordingly.

Please check inside your boot. I was hit from behind. Barely a mark on the bumper. But inside the boot in the side panels are crumple zones. Both were concertined in. Required whole back end replacing

He just smashed into the back of me. The car behind him got it too, who's car seems the most impacted

surely the car behind him is the one who shunted him into you then? The car in the middle isn’t responsible for the damage to the car behind him.

Whiplash can be painful for a while I hope, as it was such a low speed, it won’t be painful for too long op Flowers
