say the adverts.

Apart from bbc sounds, where would this be?

I use an app called Antennapod. I tried a few and settled on that, but can't remember why. I also use BBC Sounds but only if what I want to listen to is only on there because it is utterly dreadful. I mainly listen to drama series etc and it seems impossible to get it to play anything in the correct order.

I use an app called 'Podcast Player' - which does exactly what it says it does.

All the podcasts I've ever wanted to listen to are on there.

Audible

Podcast Addict is the app I use.

Tinytigertail · 01/11/2022 20:38

Podbean is my go to

SheWoreYellow · 01/11/2022 20:40

Oh my goodness! My mind is now completely blown.

So where do they get all the stuff from? Do they all have the same content?

I will go and have a look.

Thanks everyone.

I use and really like the 'Pocket Casts' app on my (android) phone.

Another vote for this one

I only ever use Spotify as I have always had Spotify premium anyway

I often read or hear of recommended podcasts on here/elsewhere, and i tend to just look them up on Spotify and they are always there. I started it for listening to music, and didn't discover the podcasts for some time (you just use the search bar) There's a whole world out there it's amazing (late adopter hence the enthusiasm!) You can search for specific podcasts, or by topics or names of people you are interested in. I pay £10.99 i think, and it's worth every penny.

Solosunrise · 01/11/2022 20:50

Per month that is

StrawberryFizz27 · 01/11/2022 20:51

Castbox & spotify

hellosunshineagainxxx · 01/11/2022 20:54

There's tons of podcast platforms, Apple and Spotify are the big ones but you also have google play, stitcher, podbean and more. A lot of the smaller ones just used a feed from Apple or Spotify

A lot of content is shared between platforms but there are some that are exclusive to specific providers. For example the Parenting Hell podcast (which is one of my favourites) has been available everywhere up until now, but next week they are moving exclusively to Spotify, though remaining free thank goodness!

catfunk · 01/11/2022 22:01

I just use Spotify. Has all my faves on there.

Sorry to hijack, but anyone else find the purple Apple podcast app frustrating to use ? It will replay the same thing a million times, lose the podcast I'm in the middle of, arbitrarily play back-to-back episodes of one show , even if I'm not following the afore -mentioned show. Drives me crazy!

Yep. I have an iPhone and iPad Pro, and it doesn’t sync between the two. Which device I listen on depends on if I’m on my commute or at home. It drives me nuts.

There are multiple Podcast apps, I’ve always used Apple, never heard of BBC Sounds.

whatwouldAnnaDelveydo · 01/11/2022 22:15

Podcast addict app (Android), as PP mentioned.

Woolandwonder · 01/11/2022 22:18

Stitcher and Spotify for me

ohidoliketobe · 01/11/2022 22:20

They say that phrasing to avoid advertisin/ promotion.
I use Spotify mainly.

Yeah, I didn’t even know about Spotify doing podcasts though, let alone most of the others mentioned.

I've been using the Pocket Cast app on Android since the Acast app was withdrawn. Works well for me.

Parmesam · 01/11/2022 22:42

Deezer. We're on a family plan so we all have our own accounts but pay one fat price.

I mostly listen to music but DD loves her podcasts.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 01/11/2022 22:44

I use podcast addict.

Would it help to think of these apps as browsers? They all do the same thing but look a bit different, much like safari, Crome, Explorer and Firefox.

It’s kind of like bookshops. A big shop like Waterstones will have lots of big name books, that’s like the Apple Podcasts app. A smaller shop will have a more curated range, like Acast, Pocketcasts etc. Some bookshops only stock books on a theme, which is a bit like Sounds that only has BBC podcasts.

Anyone can write a book, make a podcast, but after that it’s a case of getting it in the shops and in the right shop for the audience.

LillyLeaf · 01/11/2022 22:45

Castbox and Audible, sometimes Spotify
