He makes my skin crawl but I don't think he's being stupid here. He knows he's out at the next election so his days as an MP are numbered and therefore he's making money where he can.

The problem is that I am one of those people that lost two family members during Covid (and couldn't attend the funeral of one due to rule of 6) so this has completely put me off watching I'm a Celeb this year. His face makes me want to punch the TV.

I just read his open letter in The Sun (bleurgh) about why he's going on the show and my god what a disingenuous little wanker he is.

Considering how many threads on MN today about him and how often he mentioned in other threads not directly related he was right -

Well that's I'm A Celeb off the watch list. Because who wants to watch his face on tv every night blurgh! Plus it's boring when the same person gets voted for the bush tucker trials over and over, and we know full well he's going to be doing every single one, The only thing that could save the show now is if they put him in the box in the ground trial and then leave him there.

I think we all need to demonstrate that it is not good enough that our MPs have second, third and fourth jobs

It is not good enough that MPs do fuck all and are held to less account than us in our 'little' jobs

When they are caught out for tax evasion they say they 'forgot' to declare the situation. We get prosecuted.

Yes i agree and its unlikely but that is part of the problem. Effectively it says MPs can do what they like to moonlight.

If I or most people unilaterally decided to go and do other lucrative work, without any discussion or prior approval, whilst being well paid by my employers, I'd expect to be out on my ear.

If he had any real interest in doing this stunt for some good purpose he could have gone through channels with the whips/parliament to arrange pairing, cover in the constituency and then been clear that all proceeds would go to the cause. I'd still question it frankly in a job paying the salary and benefits that an MP earns.
