Shocking account of the 2016 attack in Nice, all but forgotten in France let alone rest of the world

Gripping piece of journalism, from the on-going trial - 86 people including 15 children died and 450 injured when a lorry was driven through them (literally). Now I read it, I remember it being on the news but on a world stage of tragedies it just got lost. There are some terrible stories in here and you can feel the journalist's sense of hopelessness.

I remember this vividly and the article is heartbreaking.

I'd be interested to know why it has taken so long to have a trial. The delay - and countless other atrocities that have happened across the world since - mean that yes, people move on and it's not at the forefront of their mind.

The murderers should have been tried, sentenced and locked up forever many years ago.

Because it takes time to investigate properly and covid has led to delays.

and there was only one man in the truck and he died at the scene.

Also, this weekend marks the 2nd anniversary of another terrorist attack in Nice at the Notre Dame church on the Avenue Jean Médecin where 3 people where beheaded during a morning service. Again, the mayor and the families and friends of the victims held a ceremony, flowers were laid and respects were paid by the city to the victims, we have not forgotten them

I haven’t forgotten. I remember Chris Froome speaking very movingly about it in the podium as victor in the Tour de France that year.

Completely agree with @dreamingbohemian

Me too.

That poor mother mentioned in the article, so terrible.
The victims were of various religions, colours and countries. I hope all the families get some answers.
