Has anyone done a Dude Ranch holiday?

Or some other kind of family camp in the USA?

My dc’s dad is working in the States for 2 months over the summer and has offered to fund me taking dc’s over there so he can see them for a few days at the beginning and end of our trip. He’d be based in NYC so we could fly pretty much anywhere.

After a bit of research I really fancy doing some kind of family camp or riding holiday, something outdoorsy but where we’d be with other people too, ideally something that you can’t really do in other places. Staying on a dude ranch type place looks amazing but a lot of them look pretty religious or like there might be singing or dancing expected which I think I would hate even more than my kids.

Has anyone done a holiday like this or could recommend any companies that do this kind of thing?

Have a look at White stallion Ranch in Arizona. Absolutely amazing! Perfect for children.

We went to one in Canada, called three bars ranch was probably the best holiday we have ever had. Just waiting for the time we can go on another. Enjoy 🐴

We've been looking at the Mayan Dude Ranch in Texas. Didn't get any religious vibes from their website.

That looks amazing @Sleepplease2021 thanks so much! Have you been there? If so, did you all have much riding experience beforehand? My dc can ride, in that they can tack up and regularly ride my neighbour’s retired ponies but they’ve never had any formal lessons. They stay on and know which buttons to press but look like sacks of potatoes while they do so.

Yes we’ve been a few times. My eldest is able to ride and the horses are suitable for various different levels. Very varied rides out, including penning which is great fun. Lots of other activities as well. Such an amazing place, I would go back every year if I could!!

They do lessons as well which are well worth it and very reasonable.
