apparently it's legal to film someone in their garden
because a garden is classed as public place i'm guessing this is because other people can see you in your garden ie it's not so private you have to go out of your way to see in it.
this has been told to me by multiple different police officers

so why does it still say on websites like this that it's illegal giving the wrong impression to people??

well this did give me a laugh 😂

This

I think this is a better solution than filming them back.

But if you believe it’s being done deliberately to harass or intimidate you, then you need to see a solicitor to see what evidence you need to threaten to bring a case. Have you talked to a solicitor? They are going to be more use than the police here (not the one with the dodgy website, obvs)

I don’t agree with filming people just because you can see them from a public place. Heard a radio phone-in and tons of people had been recorded and their faces etc. shared on social media implying they were up to something dodgy. The phone-in was about how many people had been wrongly accused and how hurtful it had been.

Don’t understand why it’s allowed tbh. V difficult to police but seems massive invasion of privacy when your own face is no longer owned by you if it can be seen by someone else - is that what we’re saying?!

it is not morally right at all but it is legal
These kind of situations are very hard to police and prove evidence for that the person is being harassed unfortunately.
In this instance i'm not referring to it being posted anywhere, just being used as a means of making the person feel uncomfortable on their own property but of course it could be posted somewhere etc if that person wanted to do so

What did the police and council say when you asked them to stop filming you with the CCTV?
