Oval dining table for home working

I recognise this post will be of niche appeal!

I have a cheapo ikea gateleg table that I sit at for home working and also use as our dining table. It's a rectangle.

I'm trying to upgrade my dining room furniture and have seen a oval gateleg table in gumtree that would look better in the room.

The position of the legs means I'd have to sit on the bend. Would I regret that?

I don't have room for a permanent dining table or for a desk. Finding decent looking rectangular gateleg tables that I can afford has been tricky.

So in short - can you do laptop/mouse work on a curved table without being totally uncomfortable?

I wfh at my oblong kitchen table. I have my mouse and a notebook to the right of me and it's also where I put my cup. I have a second screen as well but I suppose that's irrelevant here.

Would you have enough room to scroll with the mouse and have your notebook /papers to the side of you? I really spread myself out so it depends if you need to do that.

Would your forearm be supported for typing/using the mouse? If you work at a computer do you have DSE guidance from work? Guessing if you survive working at a lamp top for extended periods you might not be worried, but your body will thank you in the long term if you have a good posture and supportive equipment!

I've always had curved work desks where I've sat on the opposite (if that makes sense... the curve goes away from me rather than into me). When I first started work, everyone had one desk too, then we moved to lap tops, then we moved to two screens and a docking station and at no point did the optimal set up of a L shape desk with the curve away from me ever change. I don't actually see why the curve going into me would make a difference in any of those set ups.
How much time do you spend on screen calls when you're just on the call and making the occasional note, how much time do you spend on screen and writing and how much time do you spend off screen? They might be considerations

Ours is round. When DH was WFH he often dropped stuff off it. There's a lot of balancing to do.

I use a laptop on a stand with a separate keyboard below it, and a mouse. I use laptop for 99.9% of my working day. I think the problem will be the mouse arm. Maybe I should hold out for a rectangular table...
