I had an accident earlier this year abroad while driving a hire car, by driving into a bollard in a car park. No-one else was involved, and the car hire firm sorted it all out and supplied a replacement car etc. I had adequate insurance cover, plus excess cover, so all fine from my point of view, although it cost the insurers several thousand £s as the car was quite large and therefore expensive.
I'm now renewing my car insurance and wondering if I should have reported the accident to my insurer at the time - I realise I probably should have done although of course the accident wasn't covered by my own insurance policy.
Obviously I'll declare it now (and also on the price comparison site I'll use to get a comparative quote), but was wondering if anyone knew if there might be any comeback from not having reported it at the time?
