Borrowed book - pages loose

A friend loaned me a book ages ago, I can't get into it at all so it's been lying around but has subsequently ended up with a number of pages coming loose. Is there a way of sticking them back in or should I get another copy of the book (I don't fancy confessing that this has happened). Thanks

Use a Pritt stick or similar along the inner edge of the pages, then slot them carefully back into place. Only a little glue needed and best not to use any that's too wet or runny. Don't use any kind of tape. Good luck!

PS If the pages haven't come out of the book completely, it's sometimes easier to gently ease them out, so that you can apply the glue and then re-insert the pages.

Ok thanks I'll need to find the book first and check but that sounds easy enough! Fingers crossed.

Also, once you've done that, close the book straight away, lay it on a flat surface and press down hard on it, or leave something heavy resting on it for a few hours. Don't leave it open to dry the glue - not necessary as you'll only be using a very small amount. Yep, ex-library worker here 🙂

Thank you! Prittstick has been purchased, wish me luck!

I'll be rooting for you! Just out of interest, this technique is known in library land as "tipping in" as that's what you do with the pages...try to insert them as far into the spine as you can to minimise the risk of their outside edges protruding when the book is closed...if that makes sense 🙂
