Hi My DD just started her periods and wants to use period pants. Which style/brand would you recommend? How many pairs? Sizing? Thanks

I've tried Uniqlo and M&S period pants and of those two, Uniqlo were miles better - no vpl and nice thin, stretchy fabric. They're not cheap but I'm pleased with them. I went for my usual size.

I'm far from being a teenager but hope it's helpful anyway.

I have one daughter using Modibodi, the other Wuka. Both great - Modibodi more expensive. Period management transformed from when I was their age!

Oh, around 5 pairs each, they get washed daily but really need 36-48 hrs to dry properly in airing cupboard, faster if I finish them off on radiator.

Modibodi are good and comfortable. The Marks and Spencer ones were recently in the sale as 4 pairs for the price of 3 and so I bought some for DD who was going away with school. No complaints from her about them and they washed well. Modibodi have sales on regularly so I built up supplies until she had 6 pairs. DD is autistic and did not like the feel of the Wuka, or the other brands we tried because they were quite stiff. She doesn't tolerate disposable pads either so I am really glad these exist!

I like the Uniqlo ones too, very comfy and work for my heavy periods

Dd has the next ones & they seem to be ok so far.

Bought the primark 3 pack for my daughter. So far so good. She wears them at night with pads in the day.

Think they were 3 for £13.

stripeymonster · 26/10/2022 23:33

The M & S ones leaked for me. Both through the gusset and at the front because the padded area isn't that long.

Snowdropsarelovely · 27/10/2022 08:06

My teen finds modibodi the best for comfort and not leaking. Her periods are very heavy though. She's tried cheeky wipes, Sainsbury's and Primark, but none of them were as absorbent. She has the modibodi ones designed for heavy periods. Had them for a couple of years now and they wash brilliantly.

I have the sainsburys Luna ones, I like them and haven’t had any issues, but I use them as backup for a mooncup on heavy days or alone for lighter days.
They do take a while to dry and shouldn’t be tumble dried so do factor that in - I have 8 pairs and that works for me.

Modibodi. Expensive but much better than any of the others (I've been using for a few years now)

dryshampooer · 27/10/2022 08:40

My teen has been using Modibodi for around 2 years, and the original pairs still going strong. Expensive, but was a good investment as she finds them comfortable and no problem with leaks.
As others have said, they do take a long time to dry, so you need at least 5 or 6 pairs if you are using them exclusively.
