Just that really. How hot is your hot water?

Very hot

Sadless · 26/10/2022 16:17

Hot enough that it wouldn't burn or have to put cold water in Bath to cool it.

I was thinking more actual temperature. I’ve just turned ours down to 55 degrees but Google is not particularly helpful with what it should be.

Our shower shows the temperature and it becomes much too hot at around 44. I personally like it around 37, the dc around 40. Most hot tubs are around 40.

55 is much too hot

@McGingery

you need to be careful what you are adjusting. There's the hot water temperature & circulating water temperature.

Hot water on a combi should be at least 50C, in a storage cyclist at least 60C. This is to avoid legionella growth. As per hse

Is there not a risk of legionnaires disease at these low temps?

CheekyHobson · 26/10/2022 17:37

55 is the minimum you want your boiler/hot water tank to be in order to avoid bacterial growth. Spa pools have chemicals put in the daily for this reason, hot water tanks don’t, so the temperature has to be higher.

Personally I like to keep it a bit above that but if you have young kids and are afraid of scald injuries or are trying to manage power costs I can understand why you’d turn it down. No lower than 55 though.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 26/10/2022 17:37

Sorry, that is for public services. But similar for homes. Wrong link!

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 26/10/2022 17:38

Domestic I think the tank should be 60C

EndlessMagpies · 26/10/2022 17:40

Absolutely ruddy scalding hot. We tried turning it down a bit, but then when you turned a tap on, the combi boiler wouldn't click on at all and we got cold water.

Circumferences · 26/10/2022 17:43

I would set the water temperature for the bath or hot water at the sink at 40°C.
But the temp for the radiators will be different.

I hadn’t actually considered that and was thinking the usable temperatures
