When do you unlatch baby?

Baby is two weeks old. Totally different experience than my first! When she breastfeeds, she nurses for a good ten minutes or so and falls asleep but then just wants to hang on, not drinking just sort of with nipple in mouth and nibbling occasionally? Is this non nutritive sucking and part of cluster feeding and getting my supply up, or flutter sucking? I usually let her do it for a bit but eventually want my boob back. She is two weeks old. What do other people do?

Nursing for comfort is important too. You could try wearing a sling so you can go about your day. I think that type of sucking most formula fed babies would have a dummy for so you could try that (can't remember if they are age appropriate that young)

Thank you @Singleandproud . Yes, I let her stay there for another ten mins or so, sometimes she’ll fall off the boob or I can just gently touch her mouth and she comes off. Others she more firmly attaches. It’s the middle of the night that can be hard if she wants to stay on and do that because I’m knackered! But if it’s what she needs I’m happy to do it. My breasts are small, don’t think I could manage a safe position for sling feeding!

I waited until my supply was established (6-8 weeks) and to make sure baby was gaining weight well and then pinged her off if she was just hanging on. I think we all have our own boundaries and that’s the line I draw. Happy to feed, not happy for nibbling.
