How do you part with baby clothes?

I definitely bought way more than needed.

Lots are still new with tags. They are taking up so much room I want them gone, but need the money the sales would generate.

I’ve posted on vinted but some are not selling.

Anywhere I could sell a job lot? Or any advice on how you part with lovely baby clothes?

You would save more money by spending less in the next size up. There are masses of hardly worn baby clothes in circulation. The best way to sell would be as a well put together bundle (maybe on Facebook) but unless posh brands you wont get much.

I volunteer at a clothes bank and sorted several hundred donated baby items in a morning last week, all good as new, there's no shortage.

Facebook market place, but honestly most that sell go as bundles for equivalent of £1 or £2 per item

LolaSmiles · 24/10/2022 13:35

Put them as a bundle on Facebook marketplace or accept that the money is already spent so pass them on and spend less next time

I agree with @NotMeNoNo.

I think the best thing you can do is either donate them or offer them as a bundle for free on fb. There were so many baby clothes in circulation when I had my dc and they are teens now, so I can only imagine it’s got worse now.

or save them in case you have another baby and hope that you have a friend who has a second baby at a similar time and can swap baby clothes with them (I did this when I had my third - I gave her our boy clothes and she gave me some girl stuff).

I found it very easy to get rid of baby clothes once I’d had my third child as I knew I had enough children and didn’t want anymore babies. Until that point, I had kept everything.

If they've got tags can you return them for a larger size?

MapleandAcorn · 24/10/2022 16:28

Thanks all. Unable to return as some are things I bought years ago! ill make up some bundles 😃

I sell everything on Vinted, maybe you're pricing too high? How much are you listing things for?

IceandIndigo · 24/10/2022 16:32

I've struggled to even give them away, local charities seem to have more than they can use. From a sustainability perspective it bothers me.

Duttercup · 24/10/2022 16:35

If they're not selling on Vinted, you're probably asking too much. If you're asking for a similar price you paid, you're probably not going to get it because someone willing to pay the correct price could just go to a shop and pick exactly what they want, rather than whatever's on Vinted.

If you make stuff into cute bundles, they sell better. I do two vests and a skirt or whatever if it's stuff that I think deserves more than £2 and that works well. Sell the dream 😂

Are there any 2nd hand baby clothes shops near you that sell them for a 50/50 split in profit or other amount. Or an nct or alternate sale in a village or school hall?
