The inevitable return of Mornington Crescent

As winter approaches and the nights draw in, one’s thoughts naturally turn to wholesome, homely entertainment. Instead, though, I invite experienced players and novices alike to join me in a game of Mornington Crescent.

To keep the pace gentle, I’ll begin with an inverse Lepton to

Seven Sisters

Elegantly done, Bluevases.

Alperton

Hmm this requires some deep thought and consideration but I think I might gently suggest Turnpike Lane

LlynTegid · 22/12/2022 10:10

I think a short move to avoid all the shoppers in the area to Arnos Grove is appropriate.

I wonder if the game of games had been around in Oliver Cromwell's time whether like Christmas it would have been banned.

DuckonaBike · 22/12/2022 21:02

Either that or he would have played it with ruthless efficiency, I imagine.

Whitechapel

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/12/2022 10:06

Quite. I imagine that (like Monty Python’s Spanish Inquisition) he’d have deployed fear, surprise and ruthless efficiency, as I hope to do with the following Prendergast’s Parallel to

South Acton

LlynTegid · 23/12/2022 16:19

Acton Central. Hopefully the shops are open.

DuckonaBike · 23/12/2022 21:50

Ha!

<rubs hands with glee>
<polishes pince nez>
<pours more absinthe>

West Hampstead

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/12/2022 01:54

Aha!

<slaps thigh, pantomime-stylee>
<adjusts lorgnette>
<drinks dregs of absinthe bottle>

Harold Wood

As its Christmas Eve I feel we should cover some ground before the Festive Season starts in full, the Archbishop liked a quiet time over Christmas, so I will venture to Northwick Park

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/12/2022 14:18

You’re quite right, HazelBite, so in that festive spirit let us progress to

Lancaster Gate

Well, the fizz is flowing , the turkey and several of the underfoot men are stuffed, the pudding and the colonel are quietly marinading in a vat of brandy,Mater is happily updating his life insurance, dearest Cecile has returned from her latest sojourn at His Majesty’s pleasure(not banged up, just lounging in Chamonix with minor European Royals) and I feel that as a treat to myself, using a triple cantilever Sanderson with a left handed fillip I land, most elegantly on
Mornington Crescent!
A very sumptuous and decadent Yule to you all!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/12/2022 11:06

Beautifully played, OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow!

I must go to attend to the catering. Cook rather overdid it on the sherry and is now somewhat distracted, such that the sprouts went into the Aga at dawn and she was planning to boil the goose for 10 minutes. If I can’t retrieve the situation it’ll be the Christmas Stilton on toast for lunch. Merry Christmas one and all!

TragicMuse · 27/12/2022 13:38

Splendid triumph Fuckery!

Shall you start the next game?

I'm on day 3 of cheese mountain. It's going well.

LlynTegid · 27/12/2022 18:18

I will begin.

Baker Street

DuckonaBike · 27/12/2022 19:58

Fantastic seasonal conclusion to the game! Well done Fuckery!

It’s still Christmas, so I’m going to counter with

Angel

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/12/2022 20:21

And here we go again. Fortified by a decanter or two of Cointreau, I shall slide elegantly to

Swiss Cottage

Pumpkintopf · 28/12/2022 01:04

Well given the need for more Christmas cheese a short hop to visit the large Sainsbury's at Finchley Road it is.

LlynTegid · 28/12/2022 06:51

There is a nice deli near West Hampstead which I think is worth a visit.

HazelBite · 28/12/2022 13:40

Well obviously I have no choice it has to be Wembley Park

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/12/2022 14:16

Fabulous! Just the entrée I need to make my favourite Pilkington Transverse to

Theydon Bois

DuckonaBike · 28/12/2022 14:19

Ooh, nice move Maud. May I counter with a side step to Bromley-by-Bow?

LlynTegid · 29/12/2022 07:44

Not far to Barking, hopefully can get a cup of coffee and sit down to recover from OhWhat's move on Christmas Day.

Pumpkintopf · 29/12/2022 11:05

Well of course since we have now reached a terminus on the H&C the only reasonable move is to open the options back up by using

King's Cross

HazelBite · 29/12/2022 16:51

I can only come up with Moorgate

LlynTegid · 29/12/2022 19:47

Time for the Elizabeth line rule via the not so secret walkway and off to Paddington we go.
