I'm very well read on the constitution thanks @VeniVidiWeeWee but there is a point reached where politicians should be putting the interests of the country first rather than their own political party.
The current government has no mandate, the financial direction in which Liz Truss was heading was without mandate and the fiscal plans she put forward had not followed due process, i.e. not been passed by the Office of Budget Responsibility on the basis Kwartengs 'mini budget' was not a budget. Rather like the illegal proroguing of Parliament attempted by Johnson, for which the government was yet again taken to the courts for a Judicial Review which they lost.
There does come a point where responsibilities have to be taken seriously notwithstanding the fact that following the spirit of the law and being seen to do so has huge merit. Integrity is vastly important in public life. The Tories have shown over the last 12 years they have none. So, just because the laws say there doesn't have to be a general election, doesnt mean there shouldn't be.
God help us if we have even just another two years of this. NHS on their knees, HM Courts on their knees, the Passport Office huge waits, housing - unavailable, homelessness higher than since the eighties, local authorities social services on their knees, not to mention EH who are supposed to.police PRS but can't, Police services not bothering to investigate serious crimes, social care on it's knees. There is no leadership, no investment. Please tell me one good thing the Tories have done . . ..
