People blocking our driveway

Over the last month, there's been six different occasions where someone has parked on the road blocking/partially blocking our driveway. To make it more tricky, one side of the driveway has a hedge and the other a lamppost- so even if the drive is partially blocked - you can't manoeuvre out. This morning I've got up to find some prat has parked partway across the drive so I can't get out.
The most annoying thing is there's always loads of space on the road - it's just my house is next to a cut through to some houses off the main road so I think peoples stupid parking is a result of wanting to park closer to where there going.
Can I ask the council to paint some white/no parking lines out the front? What other ingenious ideas could I try to stop these people?

You can ask! We're on a main road and outside our driveway we have a long stretched H line ... we do still have some idiots who stop there, but rarely leave their cars

As we had a similar thread the other day I have to ask: are they parking across a dropped kerb?

Dinoworrier · 22/10/2022 06:12

Fortunately this mornings offender has gone now.
I must have missed the thread the other day, but yes it's across a dropped curb. What does that mean?

I obviously mean kerb Blush
Yes we do get people parked/waiting across our drive too - like you I don't worry about that too much as they're with their car so can move it if I need to get out. We also get the delivery drivers park there but they're usually just nipping to the houses down the back so are only there for a couple of mins.
It's strange that it's a problem now. We've lived here for years and it's not been a huge issue until the last month. Very random!

Could something be making it busier? Our road has got busier recently I wondered whether to do with people returning after covid as had many people partially blocking drive not causing an obstruction but making it hard to get in and out. Mind you someone has now blocked me in completely for the last 24 hours and since 6pm rhe Road has been empty! Hoping it's a neighbour rather than a broken down car...

The other posters wasn't dropped so there was nothing wrong with people parking on her thread but they're obviously blocking your dropped kerb.

I would ask the council about the paint. I think you'd have to pay but it's not extortionate.

My father paid for the white lines due to a similar problem, and it’s worked. I can’t remember what he paid, but it wasn’t extortionate. Less than £300 I think, and it’s given him peace of mind.
