Where should I park for a day in Brum

We (dd12 and ) have been on holibobs in Peak District and are going home (darn Sarf) tomorrow. I have promised Dd the thrills of the Worlds Biggest Primark. Is it better to park somewhere like mere green and get the train in ? I hate driving in cities abd I don't want to go into central Birmingham if I can help it. Plus I want to leave the car somewhere safe.
also is there anywhere cool I shouldn't miss for Dd ? She loves bubble tea and fancy pastry shops. We wont have a great deal of time, maybe 6 hrs as we need to be on our way home by about 1900

Medicine bakery on new st has marvellous baked goods - 5 min walk from Primark

Northfield train station has free parking and a direct train into new street. It’s also a stones throw from the m42 and the m5

TheHonourableHonoriaGlossop · 21/10/2022 18:46

Ooh I'd spied that, Thankyou

To answer your question yeah I'd park in Sutton or somewhere & get the train in. If you do drive I usually park at Snow Hill, it's fairly Central but not Bullring prices.

Avoid the clean air zone and its fees.

There are lots of cheap car parks in Digbeth, including meters. Look at Fazeley Street and the roads round rather. Then u can walk up to Primark and the bull ring area easily. Alternatively from the North of the City you can park around the Snow Hill area and walk although it is rhe other end of town

Or Rowley Regis. Massive car park less than 5 minutes from the M5 and at 15 minute train journey in. Trains every 10 minutes.

Oops meant to quote the Northfield station post

I’d also just park in town. But I am local and don’t mind the roads.for Primark I’d probably park at Snow Hill or in the red cage car park by New St.

Selly Oak and Kings Norton also have large car parks and are close LT to town than Northfield.

Check your car to see if u can go in the clean air zone . Most petrol ok and newer diesels are too

The reason I didn’t suggest selly oak and kings Norton was the traffic. Both an absolute pain in the arse at rush hour times.

Im also local but much prefer to get the train into town…but then I have a diesel car and the CAZ does my nut in 😂

We will be coming down through Sutton Coldfield then will be looking to get onto the m40 to join the m25 at slough so I think Sutton
can someone explain the m6 toll ? What does mainline/junction mean ? Trying to work out if it's worth paying for the time saving

Again Northfield is close to the M42 (junc 2) and if you head eastbound for 2 junctions you will fall onto the M40.

The M6 toll is a waste of time and money. The only road that goes from nowhere to nowhere. Just stay on the M6

Park at Blake Street and get the train in.

Is the m6 toll different from the m6 then ?
🤯 my head hurts from looking at maps

@TheHonourableHonoriaGlossop the toll skips J11-J4 but then it has different junctions. Honestly though unless you're planning on using it during Friday teatime rush hour you'll be fine on the normal M6. I live within a mile of one of the toll junctions and I've only ever used it a couple of times on a Friday evening.
