Best washing powder for eczema?

Mumsnut · 20/10/2022 18:00

I have used Filetti for years, but can no longer find it in Waitrose or anywhere else.

Can anyone recommend something for very sensitive and eczema-prone skin?

My children had eczema and I found Ariel none bio to be the best for their skin, with an extra rinse and no fabric conditioner.

Koala3d · 20/10/2022 19:02

Waitrose sensitive has worked for us. Very grateful to find it after ages using Surcare which didn’t seem to make clothes at all cleaner

Depends on the child tbh. Fairy non bio works for us. Persil causes flare ups

Ecover laundry liquid works for us.

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 20/10/2022 19:08

Ecover for us.

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 20/10/2022 19:09

Fairy non bio

APurpleSquirrel · 20/10/2022 19:11

Ecover for us too.

Moominfanjo · 20/10/2022 19:13

We just use Tesco sunshine powder (pink box) and that does us eczema itchers just fine.

JamMakingWannaBe · 20/10/2022 19:14

Lidl bio powder. Half the recommended dose.
It's often the perfume additives in washing detergent that cause the sensitivities. White vinegar in the fabric conditioner drawer to rinse.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 20/10/2022 19:15

Fairy Non Bio since I were a lass and still today. Anything else makes it flare.

Iammatrix · 20/10/2022 19:15

Ecover.

Fairy non bio

This. My skin is prone to flaring so I use this.

EdHelpPls · 20/10/2022 19:23

We CANT use Ariel, ecover or fairy non bio.
We can use persil - bio and non bio.

Seems it's a game of trial and error. Only one in our family is affected badly so we tried buying small cartons in stores like home bargains as they did 10wash size for £2 or whatever. Then washed a strip of fabric in with other clothes in the new stuff and she wore the bit of fabric around her wrist for up to a day. If no flare up, we try a whole outfit before washing a lot of her clothing in it, just in case,.

FluffytheGoldfish · 20/10/2022 19:24

Can't go anywhere near Fairy or Bold or ecover. The pink Surf or Surecare are the only ones that suits all 3 eczema sufferers in my house.
It is very much a trial and error process for all things eczema. When Dd1 was a baby we had to change her prescription a few times as it was making my eczema worse using them on her.

HariboReckoning · 20/10/2022 19:26

Surecare for me.

ShowOfHands · 20/10/2022 19:28

You have to try them all unfortunately.

Fairy non bio is often recommended but DD and I react really badly to it. We have to take our own sheets to MIL's as she uses it and we can't sleep in her beds.

Persil non bio is the only one DD and I don't react to.

OrangePomander · 20/10/2022 19:28

Ecover Zero

Mumsnut · 20/10/2022 19:30

Thanks all.

We stopped using Fairy yonks ago because the smell was over-powering. Is it still very scented?

Craftybodger · 20/10/2022 19:34

It all depends what triggers the excema. It’s fragrance for me so Surcare works and so does Waitrose sensitive with the pink label.

OneCup · 20/10/2022 19:35

Surecare here

Greenandcabbagelooking · 20/10/2022 19:35

I use a laundry egg. It cleans well and hasn’t caused my skin to flair up.

RosieRainbow1986 · 20/10/2022 19:38

Persil non bio and comfort pure work for me!

LaughingLemur · 20/10/2022 19:42

Ecover here too. The only one we've had success with.

RosesAndHellebores · 20/10/2022 19:42

Persil non bio. No fabric conditioner.

WonderingWanda · 20/10/2022 19:44

My dd reacts to most including fairy. Seems to be fine with persil non bio powder though.
