Do you dress up for your ex?

I coparent with my ex and my mum was at my house yesterday when he came to spend some time with the kids. She asked if I "always look like that" when he comes. "That" meaning no make up, hair scraped up in a bun and a tracksuit on. According to her I should make more of an effort and not look so "rough". Frankly, I don't care whether he thinks I look rough, I'm not going to dress up for him. Does anyone actually do this?

Well I don't have an x but I would have thought one of the benefits of having one was NOT to have to dress up...

Absolutely not!

tiredofthiisshit21 · 20/10/2022 10:26

God no. Well thankfully I don't have to see him any more but I never did when he was still picking our daughter up. This is the man who once turned up with a bit of his breakfast stuck to his jumper and when I pointed it out to him he picked it off and ate it. So no, I don't give a flying fuck what I look like when I see him!!!

What's the purpose of dressing up??
I'm sure he's seen you in all kind of different ways and it makes no difference to the ex ?
What an odd thing for your mum to say. He isn't a special guest 😂😂😂

All you need to say here is ‘mum - why would I do that ? I keep my sexy outfits for my late at night male visitors’
😂🤭

I don't dress up for anyone at all. I dress for me, and for comfort.

I would find your mum's comment bizarre and would probably tell her so. Is she one who thinks that women should always "dress up" and make efforts to look pleasing especially for men? That is just utter bollocks, and misogynistic too.

What? Sounds like your mum is a bit batshit crazy, sorry not trying to disrespect her but the idea/attitude is stuck in 1950.

You choose what to wear when you are at home/out. End of.
