So what happens now?

Liz Truss is seriously damaged as a Prime Minister. She may stay, but unlikely. If she goes, what happens next?

The Conservative Party are supposed to let the members vote again for a Prime Minister from a group of candidates selected by MPs. Will this happen again?. So we get someone as Prime Minister who lost last time?

Or is there a Plan B where the Conservative Party can rewrite the rules?

I ask because I am confused and can't see what the process will be to have a new Prime Minister.

We should have a new general election. All the politicians are liars and we’ve just had bad apple after bad apple with the Tories. I grew up in a Tory household and I cannot stand Liz Truss. She has no idea what she’s doing. We need a new party, not keep scraping the barrel for new PMs.

I agree to a point, but if we had a GE I have no one to vote for.

Obviously can't vote Tory, I can't vote Labour until they work out what a woman is, and the Libs seem to be on the missing list.

I would love to get rid of the whole lot of them and replace with some decent politicians.

I agree we should have a general election.
It does not matter if there is no one you want to vote for. But it is about democracy.
But I can't see that happening with the current polls. So what will the Conservative party actually do?

I kind of think it is important to have someone to vote for unfortunately.

MarmiRae · 18/10/2022 18:42

@jollygreenpea i agree, I can’t think of who I would want to vote for either. All Tories want to protect their millionaire status at the cost of the working class. Labour I don’t like anyway and I’m not really Lib Dem. This poor country is in such a mess and I truly worry for my DC.

@jollygreenpea But there are people who say that ar every election. I have been hearing that same lament for decades.
Democracy matters.

Yes that's true and will always be, but I imagine there may be more this time. What happens if all spoilt their papers?

antelopevalley · 19/10/2022 09:27

That won't happen. We have had general elections before where the voter turnout has been low.
