After advice on La Croix du Vieux Pont campsite in France

Hello! We are staying at La Croix du Vieux Pont next week for half term. Not our first time here but it has been a while!

Does anybody have any advice on how best to get from there to Paris please? Ideally the cheapest way too 😁

TIA

You can get a train from Compiegne to Gare du Nord direct. Compiegne is about half an hour's drive from the site, then the train takes about 45 minutes.

If you use fb there is a very good group with lots of info. We stayed in the summer and it was such a good site. We didn't go into Paris though, sorry

Train from compiegne or Soissions.

driving and parking nearby might be cool.

and the site might have restored their regular bus trips.

I love it there, what accommodation have you gone for?

Thank you. I have asked to join the FB group, hopefully they will be able to give me an idea of coach prices.

We looked into train briefly, but the ticket alone looks like it would be over 100 euros, then parking at Compiegne or Soissons. There are 5 of us, 2 adults & DC 13, 11 & 8.

We are staying a Comfort vista, I think. 3 bed, 2 bathroom with decking. Was a bargain at just over £500 including ferry!

Forgot to say our car is old (2007) & diesel, so think it would incur lots of emission charges, making driving & parking rather expensive 😩

Ahhh Bernie Riv, I worked on that site 18 years ago, many happy memories. Can't give any up to date advice on travel, I used to get train, I think it was about £15 at that point so €100 for 5 of you doesn't seem that unreasonable. Chez Mich is the little brasserie nearby and it was a big favourite, just had a look on trip advisor and it's the same owner Didier who was such a lovely man. Have a fabulous time!

I agree it is not unreasonable, but it's a lot of money. Probably £200 for a day out, which would then preclude us from doing other things during the holiday. Tough choices when you are a larger family with older DC!

Chez Micheline is my absolute favourite when there.

pierrefonds is also worth a visit.

Ps accommodation and ferry is a total bargain!

I know not where this campsite is, but if you drive across the regional border into Ile de France, transport prices into Paris will plummet.

When we stayed in Chartres this summer we were looking at I think 70-80 euros for me and DC 12 and 7 to take the train to Paris, so we drove into the Ile de France and got the RER from the end of the line at Dourdan. I think that was 24 euros, free parking all day in the town square, and far out enough that I didn't have to deal with Parisian traffic.

Lindengericht · 18/10/2022 19:38

Oh am thinking of going myself next week but haven't decided. I did look at booking a car park in Paris for the week, to drive in and out, it was priced at 100€.
