Derelict cottages South Wales

Near to where I live there are two derelict cottages that were built in the 1600s, long before any of the other surrounding houses. The elderly woman that lived on the left moved to a care home in 2012 and passed away the following year, and the elderly woman on the right lived there until she died in 2016, a few years after her husband passed away - both women were in their 90s.The cottages are on the corner of a main road, and looking at them now (from the outside and inside) it's hard to believe that someone was living there until only six years ago. Young children have been in and out of there recently through the side entrance as the front is boarded up; it's weird how they've just been left derelict as they're not hidden away and are right opposite a terraced row of houses. Hope this will be of interest to members here

Have they been left to family do you know? It’s such a shame when properties are allowed to fall into disrepair like that.

There's a way of reporting derelict properties to the council or government. They seek the owner and try and get the property into to use again. I think you can get a small reward. Try Google.

Yes they were, but I think there was a legal dispute somewhere and they just got left. As you say very sad to see the deterioration

That's the link, Google finds a couple of newspaper articles too. Not sure if dodgy company or not?

I live local - these have just been up for sale & sold so hopefully won't be derelict for much longer!
