Cosy night in alone - what treats would you get?

DH is going out for the evening next weekend, so once the children are in bed I am going to treat myself. It definitely is a treat, seeing as I never relax in front of the TV in the evening.

I'm thinking a sparkling fruity drink (I don't really do alcohol), some different cheeses and crackers, picky party bits and some lindt ball chocolates.

What are your cosy night in treats?

Crisps all the way for me. Maybe wine too.

A huge pile of hot buttered toast and a big cup of tea.

HyggeandTea · 15/10/2022 21:01

I know it isn't exciting, but I bloody love toast and get fed up of making proper food!

I used to give my DC buttered toast for tea on Sunday nights because it was the end of a long week and I absolutely cba to cook anything for them. I used to sell it to them as a massive treat. They were convinced.

Takeaway veggie sushi and a family sized "sharing" (ha!) bar of Aero chocolate. Fizzy vimto to drink.

Newcatbrowntail · 15/10/2022 23:52

Fish and chips , buttered bread and a mug of tea. And a documentary about ancient history or science.

Fearless9286 · 15/10/2022 23:56

M&S giant mint buttons that have been in the freezer, but you have to exclaim "Gosh they really are GIANT!" every time you take one from the packet 😀

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/10/2022 23:58

I'd buy a jar of gigantes Greek beans and make tsatziki and a Greek salad, plus pitta bread.

I'd follow it with some salted almonds, and either a box of fridge-cold Maltesers or a box of Turkish delight. Or both.

If in the budget I get a Chinese takeaway as DP never fancies one and it's my favourite. And I find a nice easy watching series to watch!

ninetieseyebrows · 16/10/2022 00:32

Take away of choice if hungry
If just peckish a fresh crusty baguette and a tub of sweet chilli hummus and noccerello olives
Haribo (tang fastics & charmallows)
Fish n chip crisps
Elderflower cordial
Binge watch whatever you like with maybe an episode of Masked Dancer to start you off.
Solo parent with child free weekend every other so I'm quite seasoned to the 'night to myself'. I've fine tuned such evenings over the years and I bloody love them!

caringcarer · 16/10/2022 01:02

Malteasers, bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, nice chocolates or ice cream. Netflix.

SammyScrounge · 16/10/2022 01:22

Turkish Delight
Prosecco
An old film like Double Indemnity

tiddlywinks2 · 16/10/2022 01:29

Chocolate covered strawberries, milk and white.

Bottle of wine.

Nachos.

Jeds55 · 16/10/2022 01:34

Mint Aero
Dark salted chocolate
Lindt balls - mint ones
Goats cheese, balsamic vinegar on toasted buttered white cut your own bread, cornish crackers ahd assorted dips. if I was doing takeaway - Thai Red curry abd loads sticky rice (vegetarian) .
Cashews, crispy shelled peanuts, salt and inegsr squares/crisps.
Red wine. Elderflower cordial. Cold Moretti
I could go on

Furries · 16/10/2022 02:57

A nice glass of red wine.

On the food front, I’m pretty boring when it comes to snacks.

Would either be thick-sliced white bloomer, toasted, with salted butter. Or a few (lots) of Ritz crackers with some apple-smoked cheddar on top of each.

I can only dream of this Hmm

asdadult · 16/10/2022 09:17

I'd go for the koopaberg alcohol free cider for your fruity drink.

lurkingfromhome · 16/10/2022 10:22

I'd either make a risotto because DH hates risotto and I love it, or I'd get a really good cheeseboard with all the trimmings. Small box of really lovely chocs for afters. Copious cups of tea, hot bath, book, bed by 10.

I am so rock n roll it's astonishing, eh?

CanadianMoose · 16/10/2022 10:29

I wish you were all my friends, sounds like the perfect quiet night in! 🤣
