Recommend me a dehumidifier

We've had washing hanging up to dry in the living room and it's starting to make the room smell damp. Thought a dehumidifier might be the answer but there are about 8 million different ones on Amazon. Need to balance price vs how much water it can remove vs size vs noise vs energy used and my head is exploding. Thinking a 12L per day one and hoping to spend no more that £100. Help!

I have an ebac one. Would recommend them or a me Meaco one. I don't think you'll get a decent one for under £100 unless you find a second hand one on eBay.

Mine is an ebac 2250e and I think it's 15l. It pulls so much moisture out of the air. It's about 5 years old now. They are quite noisy. I think the desiccant ones are quieter. If you dry overnight then the noise wouldn't bother you though.

We've got an Victorian house and ours clicks on and off throughout the day when we have it on over the winter but also has a laundry setting where it's constantly on. It dries washing so quickly. I've combined it with a heated airer and a load is dry in about 6 hours.

We got the 15l one as we're using it on the landing for the whole house so a 12l one would be fine for one room.

I'd second the ebac, has been brilliant for us.

Meaco

Ooh I had been getting ads for the Ebac one but they're pricey. I could believe how good they are, I had a leak through a wall from a dodgy gutter and borrowed one and it just sucked the damp right out overnight, amazing. Will look at Meaco.

We got one (well two actually one for upstairs one for downstairs) probably at least 5 years ago from Aldi or Lidl cant remember and it's excellent and was under £100 each so keep an eye out online for when they are next in

Meaco

kingsleysbootlicker · 15/10/2022 18:45

I have a couple of these Meaco ones but they're £140. They're great though and have just a low hum on the lowest setting so I can sleep with it on

Meaco 20L here
It's brilliant for drying clothes and is really quiet.

I've just dug a DeLonghi one out of the back of the garage that must be over 15 years old to help with the drying washing situation. Wasn't sure it would still work but it is, and is amazing how much water it collects.

spl1tman · 22/10/2022 20:52

also recommend adding a fan to blast at your clothes rack - really speeds up drying,

I've just got the Essentials one from Currys - £119.99. Not as sophisticated as the Meaco that my friend has but definitely does the job. Put duvet cover, bottom sheet and pillowcases on airers in our back bedroom yesterday before we went out, switched it on with the door closed and when we came back about 7 hours later it was near enough dry. I just gave it another couple of hours and it was dry and ready for ironing. I'm really pleased with it.
