Where could I live in London for £750k?

No kids. 1 bedroom flat is fine. 2 would be preferable but I appreciate it might be a stretch to get anything at all with that budget.

I really like Kentish town and prefer zone 2. Ideally I'd like to be near a fairly good high street hence Kentish town and I just really like the area. I have relatively little knowledge of other parts of London so any help would be appreciated. TIA

if you want quiet streets and a high street around Kensington high street /south Kensington is also nice and would fit the bill.
i might be bias though as i think Kensal Rise is not a very nice area, and certainly around the tube is not great later at night

I think Maida Vale is a great option for exactly what you are describing

Shitfather · 15/10/2022 17:31

You’d get a decent flat in Maida Vale or Queen’s Park for that.

Or Tufnell Park up from Kentish Town www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/114365309#/?channel=RES_BUY

Thanks all. I'll look into the areas suggested. I'm not sure what's bizarre about asking for advice on London areas when you aren't local but perhaps it is.

I do have friends who live in London but they keep suggesting around their areas(Herne Hill, Stoke Newington and Walworth, well the latter suggested Brixton) so I wanted a wider range of views.

sorry i meant bizarre that people think or get suggestions that 750 k would not buy a really nice 1 bed, and infact many zone1/2 border areas you will get a nice 2 bed.
herne hill is quite a way out for example...
but as i said i am bias as i love notting hill !

TheOGCCL · 15/10/2022 17:43

£750k is a healthy budget for a one bed flat in London especially at the moment when there are deals to be done.

Other areas to consider:
Arsenal/Highbury
Whitechapel
Clapham Junction
Stoke Newington
Hammersmith
Brondesbury/Kilburn
Angel
Pimlico
Homerton

this is a lovely lovely road and a short walk ( few mins) to portobello rd
i like it as has tiny garden - low maintenance and the bedroom is really big for london flat sizes

Apologies for the confusion. My brain cells are on a permanent break. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it.

I have a friend who lives in HH. He loves it. We've always met up elsewhere but I think I'll have to pay him a visit soon.

I'm aghast at the prices of those flats that PPs have posted links for. They're nice flats, but so very expensive! Shock

cimena · 15/10/2022 18:04

Off Stoke newington church st
Off portobello road
Primrose Hill
area around Camden Road overground
Canonbury / Barnsbury / De Beauvoir
Clerkenwell - the section just below angel tube

£750k will buy you a one or two bed flat with a garden in any of these, just about picking the right one and how much flat you get for the money will depend on the area

LadyRoughDiamond · 15/10/2022 18:40

Look at south east London. You could definitely get a house in the ‘good’ part of Hither Green (around Manor House Gdns), or a flat in Blackheath or Greenwich. That said, I’d be tempted to sit tight until next year and rent in the meantime.

KentishWay · 15/10/2022 19:23

Thank you all. I appreciate the links and suggestions. There's areas mentioned that I didn't think I could afford and others that I haven't explored so you've gave me a lot to think about which I'm very grateful for.
