Hi all,

Does anyone else have no idea how much they will be paying with the gas and electric increase?

My fixed rate was ending I'm August, so I signed up for a new one a month ago- which hasn't happened.
I've no idea what my direct debit will be next month and I'm panicking.

I currently pay £66 a month electric and £170 a month for the gas.
I've just checked my online usage (as I have a smart metre) and we used £9 of electric twice last week! It's never been above £4 in the past.

I've no idea what I'll end up paying later this month, or if I can afford it. However, at this rate it looks like electric alone could end up around £250 a month! Without the gas.

I've tried WhatsApp(ing) SSE but they never reply and I wa on hold for hours yesterday, so have up.

If my electric is currently £66 a month and my gas is £170, my gas is currently almost 3 times the amount of electric. Does this mean I may end up paying £500 plus for gas? I can't afford £800 a month on gas and electric!!

Do you have the meter readings from when you moved in, and one from the last couple of weeks?
You can pinpoint your actual annual usage, give or take a fortnight, that way if it's nowhere on your bill.

32kwh a year in gas your using
where do you live in Buckingham Palace
the average is 12000kwh a year usage for gas

Im on pre pay and used £10 last week that with the heating being on a few times for around an hour and a min of 3 - showers a day

Since Monday my electric use is 23.40 pence and 63 kwh so probably by tomorrow night around 28 for the week and 72 kwh for the week
And I’m on an expensive single rate E7 tarrif Of 45.9

you need to check your usage for the year

Find your most recent bill, it will say what they estimate your annual kWh of electricity and kwu of gas is.

Then input the information here:

If the units are right then you just need to multiply them by the current unit price. It won’t be exact because you use less in the summer more in the winter but should give you a rough guide
