Cat piss or Thierry mugler angel- solve the mystery

I have a beautiful all saints leather jacket that I got for my 21st birthday. It was still going strong a good few years later, but unfortunately smelling strong.

last winter I pulled it out of storage, wore it with a scarf and a liberal spray of Thierry mugler. Had a nice evening, popped it away. The next weekend, absolutely stank. Acrid but bleachy pissy smell that whiffs around your collar. Eau de cat litter tray.

Sent it to a special leather cleaning service. Still reeks. The scarf has been washed but still stinks the exact same. No other clothes in the wardrobe were affected.

Was it the perfume? Did it sour it? Is that possible??

Or has my cat managed to wee all over it, on the hanger, in the wardrobe?

It’s unwearable now- it’s that bad.

any ideas on how I can sort it? It’s leather jacket time again

Weeellll...I've never tried this on a leather jacket so it's completely at your own risk.

But, my cat did wee in a £100 pair of leather flats and after some research I opted for covering in bicarbonate of soda and then leaving outside for the day (still covered).

Then shook the bicarb off as much as possible.

Still needed wiping down afterwards to remove the dusty white from the bicarb but definitely worked. Maybe try on a small inside patch of leather trim first?

Definitely don't leave outside if rain is due unless you want bicarb paste!
