I feel like my stress and anxiety levels are reaching a point where I need to consult my GP for time off work. I wake up having panic attacks and anxiety related diarrhoea due to worrying about work situations (I work full time in a high pressured job).

My daughter is currently undergoing investigations for abnormalities on a MRI after a seizure, my son is in hospital now on high flow oxygen after suffering a viral wheeze (for the 3rd time in 2 months). I have been informed that there were abnormalities on my latest smear and need a biopsy.

Between home life and work life I feel majorly burnt out and I just don’t know what to do or who to go to anymore.

Oh god yes! Get signed off! Talk to your GP about how long to take. You need rest and time to deal with all that’s going on. Very best wishes for your children, and your own health.

You need time off. That's a lot for anyone to deal with even without the high pressure job. I think you at least need to see your children get a bit better before you return to work.

Yes, for sure. You poor thing, you sound totally burnt out. It's time to put yourself and your family first and get yourself signed off for as long as it takes to give you some breathing space. That's what you need - space to breathe.

I had to do the same a couple of years ago, just couldn't cope with my demanding stressful job alongside some other tough stuff. A few weeks where I didn't need to think about work and could focus on my family did me the world of good.

Make that appointment with your GP asap.

YES! Don't hesitate, don't pass go, just get in touch with your GP and get signed off ASAP. Even one of those things would be a lot to deal with and there's no shame in needing time off to deal with things and recuperate somewhat. Some time off will do you the world of good, especially not having to worry about work. Wishing you and your family all the best
